A few weeks ago, we reported that, despite low ratings, the producers of ABC’s V had no plans to give fans any kind of closure in the season (likely series) finale. Now, TV Guide reports that the finale will actually be a blood bath, killing off as much as a third of the show’s series regulars.
Executive producer Scott Rosenbaum says that two or three of the following actors have been let go from the ABC series: Scott Wolf (Chad), Logan Huffman (Tyler), Morris Chestnut (Ryan), Joel Gretsch (Father Jack), Laura Vandervoort (Lisa), and Jane Badler (Diana). He’s hoping that this “bold move” (also read: cost cutting) will help convince the network to renew V for a third season. Rosenbaum said that he made his decision of who to get rid of based on “what would be most devastating for the characters I want to continue.”
Vandervoort says that viewers will be shocked by what happens, as the cast and crew were when they read the script.
While it was looking like the new V was doomed to be cancelled after two seasons, it looks like there could be hope. The ratings have started to pick up in the last two weeks and the 18-49 demographic ratings rose nearly 6% each episode. The series is still averaging a poor 1.9 rating in the demo and 5.7 million viewers and there are just four episodes left in the season. If the numbers keep rising, ABC could see this as encouraging enough to give it another shot. A similar thing happened last season when the show was on the bubble.
What do you think? Who won’t survive the season (or series) finale? Do you think ABC will take a chance and renew V again?

if the network wont save the show then maybe the syfi channel could pick it up there has not been a good show on that network scince battlestar galatica
Season 2 of “V” has been phenomenal. Every episode has a jaw-dropping moment. I know they are planning a blood bath for the finale- so I hope it works and ABC has the good sense to grant it a 3rd season. I hope Diana and Lisa survive, but it seems only Erica and Ana are safe….for now….PLEASE SAVE THIS SHOW!!!!SOS!!!!SOS!!!!
Absolutely love the show! As a fan – I definitely do not like hearing that 3 of the main characters are going to be killed off (in the season finale)… but, as a Director & Actor myself – I completely understand the strategic move! ABC just better hope that the 3 that are killed off are not the top 3 most liked characters (on the show), because that could cause a catestrophic drop in viewership/ratings!!
BTW – (for ABC) this is the only program that I tune into ABC for!
Good Luck!
Jesse
Kill off Tyler. He’s useless. He does nothing for the show. But what they need to do is bring back the red and black uniforms. It’s simple the blue uniforms were just there way of trying to look peaceful. Now once things get going and an invasion starts then they put on there red and black uniforms. And bring back the theme music from the original.
I really hope there is a 3rd season. I love this show! I would hate to see Lisa go but the rest no problem. Seems like all the sci-fi shows get cancelled like The Gates but all the stupid shows continue. Don’t understand @ all. Anyway-rooting for V!!!
i would enjoy another season. I was a fan in the 80’s and am still. Love when i saw the real Diana return. I am in agreement with most. I would not be happy to see Diana get killed off. Anyone else is fare game to me. Yes on the Tyler especially. Useless
this reminds me of the original series, when they killed off 1/2 the cast to save $ only halfway through the 1 season run.
If they kill off Diana, I’m not watching a 3rd season of this. She is, and always will be V!
I love V! I am fine with Ryan and Tyler being killed off. However, I would HATE for Diana and Lisa to be killed off! Father Jack is too indecisive for me. It will be interesting to see if Chad gets killed because of his important role in the show. If he is axed off, who will spread the “great” message of the Visitors? I hope V is renewed for a 3rd Season!
I would be very dissapointed if the show is canceled. I think it is a great show, at least it is better than all this crappy reality TV junk that is all over the TV. If they want to cancel something they should cancel some of those (the bachelor etc……). I alsso have no problem with Tyler geting the axe. He is an idiot!!!
I hope the show comes back too. We have really enjoyed the last 5-6 episodes. Go 5th column!
I did not like the original V but really really enjoy this one. I think a bold move could be interesting it may be a little too bold but I hope it comes back.
I’m fine with Tyler being gone from the show, as well as Ryan. I agree with “Logan” that if they do kill off Tyler, it should be like his character basis from the original. I think Ryan has worn out his welcome & usefulness to the series, although his daughter could be interesting in future episodes. As far as the rest of the characters mentioned, I would hate to see any of the others go. I think they’ve proved their usefulness &/or pivotal roles in the series. I hope the series does continue.
I think a good way to end this show would be to have Anna destroy the world and everyone in it and crumble all the land into the sea and then fly away with whatever it is she came for………. and then have a long sweeping camera arc of nothing but sea for about 10 minutes (hey thats more exciting than anything the show has done so far) and then show some bubbles in the water………. and then show and island matieralize and then do a fast zoom in to see the 4 toed statue foot from lost with Jack… Read more »
If they do kill Tyler – off, do it like his character basis, from the original.
I love the show! I vote Tyler – off! He’s an idiot. I can see Decker getting killed – off. He’s been to much like Christine Walsh, from the original, and it would only be a matter – of time! I have a feeling Diana will go, I hope not, but I have the feeliung she will. We shall see ….
