Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation series has managed to stay on NBC for seven seasons. How will her brother’s show, Welcome to Sweden, do in the ratings? Will it have a long run or will it be cancelled like so many other shows? We’ll have to wait and see.
On Welcome to Sweden, a successful New Yorker (Greg Poehler) agrees to follow his girlfriend (Josephine Bornebusch) as she returns to her hometown of Stockholm. Others in the cast are Lena Olin, Claes Månsson, Christopher Wagelin, Per Svensson, Patrick Duffy, and Illeana Douglas.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
8/4 update: NBC has picked up season two of Welcome to Sweden.
Final season averages: 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.4 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Welcome to Sweden TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I am half Norwegian (Father’ side) and half Swedish (mother’s side), I LOVE THE SHOW! LOOKING FORWARD TO 2ND SEASON. I bought Season 1 on DVD today.
I love this show! I am German, my hubby is Swedish and loved the show. There are too many bad comedies on TV ! but the ratings are fab…go figure….. Unless there is a Kardashian or such to watch, people loose interest! I am sure if Kim would have appeared in one episode, the show would still be on…..not sure what this girl did in her life to get on TV… Americans have no more interest in good, simple comedies …How about Sanford & Son, Golden Girls, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, these were fab shows…and, I am only 52,… Read more »
I love the series Welcome to Sweden, I really hope that there will be season 2 or more. It’s hilarious. We want more!!
Please renew – enjoyed the season (am a Swede born of two Swedes from Sweden).
This is a wonderfully refreshing show. I find the humour to be honest, lighthearted, and real…quite a difference from so many of the cookie-cutter sitcoms that rely on rehashed jokes and that awful canned audience laughter. (My son loves the show as well, especially since his girlfriend is from Sweden, and he recently flew over there to meet her parents and her brother. He can relate to many of the situations that have been presented!)
I’m hoping this series stays on the air for quite some time…it’s one of the only shows left that I now watch on mainstream television.
I love Welcome to Sweden! The humor is offbeat and you need to read the subtitles but it is well worth it. The characters are interesting and the better you know them the better you enjoy the show. Stick with it–there is nothing else like it on TV.
My fiance is Swedish so I can totally relate how Swedes think of Americans and vice versa. We’re a bunch of Bible Thumpers and they’re a bunch of commies living off the government. I really hope this show lasts, it’s a nice breath of fresh air compared to all the other generic shows out there now like all the cop shows.. They’re getting very annoying.
