Last week, ABC unveiled Zero Hour, their newest Thursday night TV show. Will this one be quickly cancelled like Last Resort or will it become a long-running hit like Grey’s Anatomy? Cancel or keep it?
On Zero Hour, the publisher of a myth/conspiracy magazine searches for his missing wife and becomes pulled into a compelling mystery that has world-wide implications and goes back centuries. The series features the talents of Anthony Edwards, Addison Timlin, Carmen Ejogo, Dylan Baker, Jacinda Barrett, Michael Nyqvist, and Scott Michael Foster.
The debut of Zero Hour drew a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.38 million total viewers. It was in a distant third place in its timeslot and was the worst regular season premiere that ABC has ever had. Ouch.
Of course, trouble in this timeslot is nothing new for ABC.
In 2010, they tried My Generation. This ensemble drama debuted to just a 1.6 demo rating and was pulled off the air in two weeks.
In 2011, the new Charlie’s Angels debuted in the same timeslot to a 2.1 demo rating. It was cancelled within weeks and production was shut down. ABC aired seven of eight produced episodes.
This past September, Last Resort premiered to a 2.2 in the demo and the numbers quickly tumbled in the ensuing weeks. The show was cancelled but the cast and crew were able to wrap things up by episode 13.
So, unless the ratings for Zero Hour quickly climb, it seems this show is doomed to be quickly canned as well. A second season seems out of the question but hopefully the alphabet network will at least release all 13 installments.
But, what do you think? Do you like Zero Hour? Should ABC stick with it or pull it off the air already? Cancel or keep it?
I am begging…please bring this show back. I can’t belive you would cancel just after three eppisodes?!?!?!? Come on people. You have stupid reruns of crap on the weekends…you couldn’t possibly have moved the show over to Satuday???
What is wrong with ABC. This was not an 8 pm time slot show and not up against Idol. The show was good and worthy of a 9:00 or 10:00 pm time slot. Friday and Saturday nights have nothing worth watching. It could always be a umber series. Repeats are only if you missed it the first time around. I guess ABC want us to watch cable for the summer. That’s an idea maybe a cable channel will go with the series. I like many others are sick of reality shows. Cheap cop-out for ABC.
Everytime i like a show , it get cancelled.
They don’t really know how many people watch what. Thats left up to a group of people who don’t know which end is up!
Bring it back, more people are watching it than you think!!!
I loved this show, it was just getting good. I don’t know why the networks all seems to think that all we want to watch is reality shows. This was an excellent program. Why do they get you interested in a show and then promptly yank it off? it makes you wonder if you should bother watching any new shows. Why don’t they cancel some of the other crap the put on tv instead of all the good shows
By ALL means KEEP IT!!!! It’s a REALLY GOOD show!!!! It’s exciting keeps you on the edge of your chair wanting more!! If it’s not getting the ratings it’s not the shows fault it’s very interesting!! I’d have to blame it on what ever else is on at the same time! I’m sure ZERO HOUR is much BETTER!!
We also really like Zero Hour with all of its intrigue. However, I have to admit, we are also American Idol fans. We watched American Idol and recorded Zero Hour to watch it later. It hardly seems fair to put a new show up against American Idol and expect it to do well. Does the network count all the people who record the show and watch it later, like we do? Please bring it back. We want to find out why Anthony Edwards’ character looks just like a German Nazi from WWII!
I seriously just had my husband watch the first three episodes last night…he’s hooked too….please bring it back!
I really liked the show! Why bother to have anything on if you’re going to cancel in one or two episodes. Maybe ABC’s not promoting enough or properly for these new shows. If the ohter channels have had long standing programs in the time slot then you have to give a new show at least a full season. The original 90210 did poorly until it was rebroadcast in the summer when all other competing programs were on hiatus. Maybe complete this run and rebroadcast this summer?!
Keep, keep, keep! It is a great story and we need more series like that! Makes one wander! It is only sad that people would prefer any other show! Excellent series like that deserves a better spot on air so it would not collide with the others! But that sad faith of cancellation happened with the series Jericho, remember! I just do not know in whose interest and why this decisions are made !?????
It was the best show in a long time. The show kept my husband and I glued to the program which has not happened in a long time. So keep the program.
i agree withTerri Bonilla she has sad it all KEEP IT! BRING IT BACK! I can not believe that you cancelled this show. It was like watching Lost, National Treasure, & the Da Vinci code all together. Get rid of the reality shows because they are not even our reality. Zero Hour is the kind of show that has you at the edge of your seat, thinking about everything that you are watching, & you are so into the story line that it seem so real that you become a part of it. Who’s bright idea was it to cancelled… Read more »
KEEP IT! BRING IT BACK!
I guess it didn’t have enough sex, blood an guts and perversion. I am sick of the reality shows. Give us something of quality like Zero Hour.
I liked it. Watched the first three, and would tune in to the rest–want to know the rest of the story. Bring it back.
