Against the Wall: Cancelled; No Season Two

Against the Wall canceledLifetime has decided that neither of its freshman dramas are worthy of a second season. The cable channel cancelled The Protector in September and they’ve now canned Against the Wall as well.

Against the Wall stars Rachael Carpani as Abby Kowalski, a single cop who joins the Chicago department’s internal affairs division. The series’ co-stars include Andrew Walker, Brandon Quinn, Chris Johnson, Daniel Kash, James Thomas, Kathy Baker, Marisa Ramirez, Mayko Nguyen, Steve Byers, and Treat Williams.

Debuting on July 31st, the show attracted a mediocre 1.8 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, about on par with The Protector. Unfortunately, the numbers didn’t improve throughout the season. The 12th and 13th episodes (now the show’s last) aired on October 23rd. They each drew 1.4 million viewers and 0.4 demo ratings.

Lifetime recently ordered 10 more episodes of successful (and likely ending) Army Wives and also has Drop Dead Diva to help launch new shows. The cable channel has ordered The Client List, with Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising her role from the successful movie. Lifetime also has a few pilots on tap like Modern Love starring Eric Stoltz, American Housewife with Melanie Griffith, and Sworn To Secrecy, a movie and back-door pilot that stars Neve Campbell.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Against the Wall won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think the drama didn’t catch on?

I loved the show ATW. Please do not make any more remakes of movies. Steel Magnolias did not come close to the original. Invest your money in more good shows like ATW. I am very disappointed, at least give these shows a chance. The plot was great and it was entertaining. I think they had too many other things going on and people were distracted. They should not have so many shows at once. Get rid of some of the reality tv like supernanny.

I too liked Against The Wall also The Protector. They were both great shows. Also like The Client List, glad it’s not cancelled yet. Also glad Army Wives will be back. I couldn’t tell if it was or not when it ended this year.

I was so excited to see each new episode of this series- there are alot of shows to choose from on Sunday nite- so perhaps no one was flipping the channels to catch on to this hot new show. I am lucky to have a DVR- or I would have missed all of my favorite shows. I am so disappointed to know that I wont even get to see who Abby chose and what happens with the rest of her family…. HOW could you do that to US! with advertising…. you could have had a HOT sleeper HIT on your hands…. but I guess we are the ‘mere’ .4 percent that dont count…. What a disappointment- I cant even read the book to find out the ending.

Why do the tv companies do this, it is shocking, this is an outstanding series. I am sick and tired of reality shows, stop spending money on them and ask the audiences what they want.

I love this show. Please bring it back. You network folks never give a show enough time.

Me and my whole family LOVE this show SOOO much, and we really want to knwo who abby pick. We are so upset that it got cancelled. I feel that if you bring it back, and show marathons of the 1st season, and put the info for the show in a lot of commercials, the show will thrive. I feel if you bring it back, more people will watch it the time. It is such a good show and deserves to be on air. One of my friends only likes to watch reality t.v shows but i showed her this show, and she LOVED it. Against the Wall NEEDS to come back. PLEASEEEEEE!

i was still waiting for the next season.. great show! the producers should ask why?
maybe because lifetime has shows about life, family… RIGHT AND WRONG.. which is what the show brought… Not yet another reality show, with no prinicples… Maybe the producers should ask the mature women of this big world what we think, not the younger generation, with plenty of other shows for them, which doesn’t share the same vision..
..Should bring it back… darn good show! Maybe the producers should ask what it means and is their responsibilty of bringing good honest shows for everyone to see, compared to the ratings, . Don’t let the money come in the way of great shows that share, teach something for ALL genertions.
