Back in the Game: Season One Ratings

Back in the Game TV show on ABC ratingsABC has had very mixed success launching new sitcoms on Wednesday nights. Will Back in the Game be a ratings hit or will it be cancelled after one season? We’ll have to wait and see how things go.

Back in the Game follows a single mother (Maggie Lawson) and her son (Griffin Gluck) who move in with her gruff father (James Caan). Despite having no experience, the boy desperately wants to play baseball so his mom, a former All Star, gets roped into coaching a new team of misfits. Others in the cast are Lenora Crichlow, Ben Koldyke, Kennedy Waite, J.J. Totah, Cooper Roth, and Brandon Salgado.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

Just got a chance to watch the whole season. What a great show!!!! Excellent humor and good lessons for all ages to learn. James Caan is great as usual. Loved all the characters. Made me remember the movie “The Bad News Bears”. I think the problem they had with getting more viewers was, there were a few PG moments that maybe made parents not allow their children to watch the show and not enough PG moments to keep the attention of an older crowd. I think a tweak in going more in one of those directions and this show would be a real hit. I hope ABC possibly changes their mind on this show. I would love to see more.
