Copper: Cancelled Show May Return as a Movie

Copper canceled TV show movieCopper has been cancelled but Sunday’s series finale may not be the end for the characters. Deadline reports that executive producers Barry Levinson, Tom Kelly and Tom Fontana (also the co-creator) are considering a movie version.

Fontana has apparently worked out an extensive story arc for season three and may rework that into a movie script. It would supposedly look at life in America following Lincoln’s assasination and the Reconstruction years that followed.

Will Rokos and Fontana created Copper which premiered in August 2012 to 1.1 million viewers. That was a record-setting audience for BBC America and the period drama was renewed in October. Unfortunately, the numbers weren’t as strong in season two so the show was cancelled.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Copper movie? Do you think it will actually happen?

For once I found a show that depicted New York city during the 1860′s that was historically accurate in depicting life during that time. A terrific show…Please bring it back!

Ok, so what gives?? This show is by far the best I have seen on Neflix. It superseded Orange is the New Black.. and now you are a tease and I have no more? some many shows have gone season after sucky season.. and you let this one slip by.. shame on you! In the interest of pleasing the viewers, yes, remember us, BRING IT BACK!

This is one of the best shows I have had the pleasure of watching in along time. It would be a shame to discontinue this series. This show grips your heart with truth and to remove it would be one of the biggest mistakes your network has ever made. I watch a lot of BBC programs and this is one of the best shows ever created. Why waste money on some of the most silly shows on earth when you have a gem at you creative fingertips? Please renew this series or do you plan to make us suffer through more seasons of how the lords and ladies of the manor house lived frivolous lives being dressed by servants not knowing how to do a thing for themselves. As a supporter of the BBC programs I am ashamed of your decision as you should be also. This series showed how more than money matters can you not follow it’s example or does greed rule the days to come along with mindless programs? For once do the right thing! What does it take for you to realize you do have an audience and a following? Shame on you for such poor judgment in this matter!!! Thought you were better than the decision you announced but once again you display your true colors GREEN!!!

Bravo, Angela – brilliantly stated! This is one of the few shows I enjoyed; well acted, directed, produced. I see shows being renewed for their fifth, sixth seasons which are total garbage. Is this a sad commentary on what the public demands?

I’ll never understand. Why do shows like Copper get cancelled and The Simpsons can run for a hundred years? Or Dr. Who? This was a great show as far as I’m concerned. Whatever BBC America bases their criteria of a successful series on…sucks!
