TV show description:
A retelling of the King David story from the Bible, this TV series revolves around power struggles, romance, secret alliances and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom.

The country of Gilboa bears a close resemblance to a modern day United States, except that it is an absolute monarchy, ruled by King Silas Benjamin (Ian McShane). The kingdom was formed two decades earlier from three warring nations. Silas believes his power to be divine and often sites the day when a swarm of butterflies landed on his head to form a “living crown.”

Living in the pristine capital city of Shiloh, Silas must deal with the rising tensions between Gilboa and the neighboring nation of Gath. When several prisoners of war are taken, a young and idealistic Gilboan soldier named David Shepherd (Chris Egan) defies orders and crosses enemy lines to save them.

Unknown to David, one of the soldiers he saves is Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan), the king’s ambitious son and a closet homosexual. David becomes an instant star in the national media, much to the chagrin of the prince.

Silas promotes David to Captain and thrusts him into the role of media liaison. David finds himself surrounded by a world of royal court policies, unaware of the many different forces at work, including Gilboa’s head of the military, General Linus Abner (Wes Studi). David soon develops feelings for Princess Michelle, the king’s beautiful intelligent and outspoken daughter, and she seems to return them.

David also experiences the “living crown” of butterflies which seems to indicate that God has chosen a new ruler, much to Silas’ chagrin. Religious leader Reverend Ephram Samuels (Eamonn Walker) has backed Silas but begins to change his mind.

But the king has other challenges as well. His policies and actions are being manipulated by his brother-in-law, William Cross (Dylan Baker), who holds a great deal of influence over the royal treasury.

The king is married to the supportive yet distant Queen Rose Benjamin (Susanna Thompson). Silas secretly sees a mistress named Helen (Sarita Choudhury) who he once gave up in order to marry Rose for political gain. Aside from their affair, Silas and Helen also share a young illegitimate son.

I didn’t really catch this show until I found it on Hulu and would have never seen it otherwise due to my schedule. I do hope to see it next season. It’s a captivating series and it is too bad it doesn’t have a better time slot or more advertising. I was sucked in after the first episode and grew so attached to the characters.

Please, please, please don’t end this show. It got better and better with each episode. It just started to evolve in a way that was so great to watch. You just always wanted more as the episode ended. Bring this one back!!!!!!!!!!!!

NBC, you need to keep this show on the air. It’s one of the most intensely and intelligently written shows out there. I agree with all the previous comments from the other visitors…THIS SHOW WILL BE SEVERELY MISSED!!!!!!

I enjoy this show. There’s too many hospital/lawyer/cop shows on. This one is refreshingly different.

Please renew this for another season

Thanks

Move this show to SiFy. It would probably do well there.

My favorite show. Better than Lost, Heroes, and dozens of others. It is better written and acted and I find myself immersed in the story much like a good book. There hasn’t been a show like this in a long, long time. I agree with the previous comments, there are too many crime and law dramas already. This is something fresh and new. Don’t be afraid to go against the flow – take some risk and keep this show going as I think it may pay off. Perhaps you have marketed the show to the wrong population segment. I will miss Kings.

I want this show back on network TV. Who really wants to see reality shows and two to three hours of Dateline? ” Kings” is worth watching. I kept looking forward to seeing it and then I noticed it was off again!!
Please, bring the series back to us again!! Thank you!!!!

A true fan of “Kings”

Wednesdays, Fridays,Mondays, Thursdays are good days for the series. Nothing good is on!!! There are too many doubling of single shows on network TV. Why, I don’t know. “Kings” is much better for viewing. I love the series!!!

Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeee bring this show back for a second season! Please! It is so much better than any other T.V. series I have seen, I don’t even watch T.V. because there are so many bad shows on nowadays, and I finally found one that I love. The storyline is so intriguing, the acting is amazing, I couldn’t stop watching it. Please.

This show was great, another example of a network not letting a show get legs, and cutting it to early. Don’t they relized that they are throwing away money here, all the promotions etc. now they will spend more money promoting a show no ones heard of. Also nice time slot…NOT good thing I had DVR series set up or I would of missed the last couple episodes.
