Last night, Larry King said goodbye to his long-running CNN interview series, Larry King Live. He opened the program with, “Welcome to the last Larry King Live. It’s hard to say that.” As expected, it was an all-star affair.
Comedian Bill Maher and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest joined King in the studio and numerous others chimed in via remotes. They included President Obama, President Clinton, Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer, Brian Williams, Regis Philbin, Donald Trump, Phil “Dr. Phil” McGraw, Fred Armisen, and Barbara Walters.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger proclaimed it “Larry King Day” in California and Tony Bennett sang a special tribute.
At end of the broadcast, King became choked up with his final sentences. He concluded the program with, “I don’t know what to say, except to you my audience, thank you. And instead of goodbye, how about so long?” The set went black — except for a small spotlight that illuminated his trademark chrome microphone.
Here are some video highlights from the last episode…
What do you think? Did you watch the last episode of Larry King Live? Was it a good send-off?
