Magic City: Cancelled by Starz, No Season Three

Magic City special previewStarz has officially cancelled Magic City after two seasons on the air. The 16th and final episode of the low-rated series will air this Friday night.

“We are tremendously proud of the series and everyone involved,” Starz said in a statement released to Deadline. “From the writers, to the cast and crew, it has been an incredible collaboration. This was a story born from Mitch Glazer’s singular vision of Miami, the Magic City of his childhood, and we are grateful to him for bringing it to life on Starz. The season’s story arc will allow us to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the series, and we thank all the fans who checked in to the Miramar Playa.”

What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a third season of Magic City? Do you think it’s a better show than the ratings indicate?

Magic City was the only reason we subscribed to Starz. Magic City appeared more realistic than the Sopranos. It encompassed the reality of the overthrow of the Cuban leader and how organized crime became entwined. The talented actors and staff made this one of the best series for mature audiences we’ve seen in decades. Thank you in advance for bringing it back to us. Fire the bean counters if you need to be more profitable!

I thought the show was original and awesome. It was just hitting it’s stride with Caan and numerous other possible story lines. I bought season one blu ray and will be picking up season two shortly.

I am very disappointed that you cancelled this show. The time period was unbelievable as well as the fashion and the story plot. Every time you guys bring on something good, you end up taking it away. Big mistake!!!

I find this series a lot better than Spartacus, which relayed a great deal on the special effects. We were anxiously expecting season 3

First you cancel Boss, now Magic City. Why do you put these great shows out there and then cancel them. Is there no one at the helm of Starz that see beyond the day to day routine. For christ sakes, we look forward to these shows because they are great, NO COMMERCIALS, and again they are GREAT. Whoever is in charge of these decisions needs to be fired.

Just finished watching the series today on demand. That was a pretty good show. I think starz should have did a better job promoting the show. I had no idea about it….

It saddens me that season 3 is canceled. This was a great show! There is something wrong with this. How can all of the crap reality shows on all the other channels survive season after season after season, but a brilliant show like Magic City doesn’t make it. The world is upside down. This was a quality show…..great story…..great characters and acting……intrigue…..suspense……glamour……this show had it all and deserves an award, not cancelation!!!
