The Steven Spielberg/Mark Burnett produced reality series has certainly had a tough time attracting viewers on FOX. Still, the network seems committed to seeing the filmmaking competition through to its completion (perhaps because of an expensive cancellation fee). Unfortunately, the series isn’t so lucky overseas.
The South African Broadcasting Corp. (SABC2) began airing On the Lot on July 19th and by all accounts has been attracting a decent number of viewers for that area – about 1.4 million. For some unknown reason, SABC2 has pulled the series from their lineup effective immediately and replaced it with a self-improvement series Renovate My Family, hosted by Dr. Phil’s son Jay McGraw.
As for the reason for On the Lot being pulled, the channel sites “unforeseen circumstances” and would only say that they “had encountered problems with the production.” Whatever that really means, it must be pretty serious. The channel had been heavily promoting the series, boasting that they had “scooped” the internationally popular reality show. Maybe they got around to take a look at the U.S. ratings? Stay tuned!

It was canceled on my TV (meaning I stopped watching) at episode 2.
Even Chelsea Handler had the good sense to jump ship.
Just another soul crushing dream sniping hour from Mark Burnett.
I’m just surprised Spielberg didn’t notice what his good name was being slapped on.
