The team members on the Pure Genius TV show work together to save lives. It’s a noble cause but will their stories attract enough viewers to bring big ratings? Will this new CBS TV series be cut down in its prime (cancelled) or, will it be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Pure Genius follows top medical professionals as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. Others on the team are played by Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Pure Genius TV show on CBS? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/15/17 update: CBS has cancelled Pure Genius after one season. Details here.
I love it! I’ve been waiting for it to come back.
One of the most uplifting and interesting shows that there has been in years.
cant imagine why they would take this show off the air?? Maybe its who picked the time slot or the programing manger that should be removed??
My husband and I were looking SO forward to the second season of this fantastic show. It was so creative yet down-to-earth and real. The characters were not only brilliant but also had the vulnerabilities that we see every day in ourselves and others. I agree with everyone here that CBS NEEDS TO BRING THIS SHOW BACK. This show had everything and we truly miss it. Dermot Mulroney could not have been more perfect as James Bell.
This was one of the most creative beautiful TV shows in years. There aren’t many programs that we look forward to watching, most we could take or leave, but Pure Genius was truly pure genius. I could watch this with my kids and get a discounted of reality, fantasy, and always hope. I hope the actors and creators know they were perfect. The setting was amazing too. Who wouldn’t want to be a patient there in their hour of need. Cancellation is a mstake.
There are so few programs that are not violent, and don’t have vulgar and are enjoyable, this was one of those that’s why it’s being cancelled.
I have been waitin for season two of pure genius …..this show was a “feel good” show .no violence and no sci-fi, non of the absolutely stupid reality shows . It was a show that could be viewed by my grandchildren without worrying they might see things they shouldn’t. Anyone I have spoken with who watched this show had the same feelings. It is a sad day when shows of violence & nudity receive higher ratings than some show that is actually really good! Very disappointed with CBS. Please bring it back.
Pure Genius was our favorite show. It would be a big disappoint if they let it go.
Please bring back Pure Genius!!!
We are having convulsions in our disparity! Please bring back the Bunkerhill Team!
Actors, writers and their thought provoking stories were entertaining. Disappointed with CBS in not sticking with the series.
I am very disappointed to hear of the cancelling of Pure Genius. It is an intelligent show and heartfelt. This was a mistake by the network. I hope it gets picked up by another network. This world needs hope and inspiration. Pure Genius gave us that.
Pure Genius was indeed just that! Its premise was original, & it actually required the audience to listen and think! Instead of the usual mind-numbing, canned predictable programs, this one was for people with an actual IQ! I sincerely believe that’s the real reason behind its cancellation! There have been many (now) great shows whose 1st season was questionable, yet went on to create several memorable, award-winning series (i.e.-MASH for starters)! Yet, this intelligent, inciteful show got axed b4 it got a chance to get off the ground! Where would all our current/future technology be w/o the initial imagination of… Read more »
It’s really sad how other movies that are based on our violence get to continue and Pure Genius based on human feeling is cancelled. Makes you wonder where the path is leading here
This was, without question, the most moving program I have seen in years. Pure Genius had both me and my friend in tears after each and every episode. My friend, Mike, loves binge watching all the latest programs. That Pure Genius reduced him to tears was astounding. Pure Genius represented the best that we hope is in all of us. CBS completely overreacted in cancelling this program. Take a stand CBS, and bring back this remarkable program for no other reason than it rises above so much of the violent and narcissistic fantasy programing out there. Pure Genius was smart… Read more »
CBS cancelled one of the best shows that has been on in quite some time when they cancelled “Pure Genius”. I understand that ratings are important, but sometimes a show takes a little to “catch”. This drama shows that there are options in life other than singer, dancer, or YouTube star. Our youth needs hope, guidance, and opportunities. Opportunities will present themselves, parents should provide guidance, but tv should show what all is out there for them. There is a big world out there, and this show provided the idea of other potential goals. So, so sorry to see this… Read more »
Love the show wish it would come back on
