A couple weeks ago, FOX shifted their low-rated Rake series to Friday nights. Now, the show is on the move again.
Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.
The series is being replaced by Kitchen Nightmares as of this Friday night. A rerun of the Gordon Ramsay series will lead into the one-hour series finale of Raising Hope at 9pm. Season six of Nightmares kicks off on April 11th.
Back-to-back episodes of Rake will air on Saturday, April 5th, starting at 8pm. That will leave one episode unaired — the sixth installment produced, titled “Mammophile.” No word on when or if that will see the light of day.
One thing is clear however. Despite the fact that FOX hasn’t cancelled it yet, there’s no way that Rake will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? Have you been watching the Rake TV series? Why do you think it hasn’t caught on?
This show is awesome.
Maybe it would be better suited for Showtime…they’d give it more than one season I bet.
Some consistency with all these tv shows might help with ratings.
It seems like all the shows now are on for two months and then off then on then off…how about running a full season like the old days.
Run a season from when school is in to when school is out.
Thought the show Rake was a major hit. Would definitely watch it
Do not cancel Rake. Please reconsider . Rake is one of the only intelligent , witty and captivating shows on TV. It engages the audience with quirky story lines and GREAT acting. Bravo Mr Kinnear and all of the cast. Please find (and stick with) a time slot and then do some work advertising it! Don’t think you guys gave it your best efforts in the promo department and scheduling. Please don’t think we are all boobs who enjoy the usual mindless junk that manages to stay on year after year. Again please give it another chance.
Rake with its great cast, sophisticated story line, and adult humor just cannot compete with the juvenile American mentality. Too bad. Rake was one of the few television shows we looked forward to watching. Hopefully Greg Kinnear will reappear in another program worthy of his charm and talent.
This is one of the better shows on tv. Well written and superbly acted, Kinnear is playing the role to perfection. It’s edgy humor keeps you riveted to the storyline. Every character is interesting and I was really enjoying the romantic tension between Keegan and Mikki…it would be a travesty to end the series and not resolve the final scene between Keegan and Scarlet. Bring it back FOX – you don’t want a debacle like ABC had with Last Resort…don’t alienate your loyal viewers by leading them on and then turning your back on them.
I love this show, but I never can find it, so I watch it On Demand. Fox needs to bring it back and put it on the right day and time slots. By the time I finally figured out that it was on Friday nights, it was gone and Kitchen Nightmares appeared. Now I’m reading that it’s on Saturday night but may not come back. Bring it back and give it a chance.
My husband and I thought it was a great show. We really enjoyed the series. Hope it continues.
We Loved this show. It was so good to watch something that wasn’t reality TV. We are keeping the episodes on DVR so we have something to watch when we need a good laugh. Please do not cancel. I think when Fox moved the run dates around people just lost track of it. We were lucky enough to set the series to DVR so we didn’t miss anything – so glad we did.
The cast is great. Love Greg Kinnear ! Don’t cancel it…its moving along beautifully! Someone on the production end needs to find a good time slot so that it has a chance!!! I re-watch it on Hulu every week! I hope it counts as far as ratings go….KEEP IT
This show is great. I can not believe they would want to cancel this show, but leave other junk on TV like raising hope…???? Gregg Kinnear is at his best in this show. Please FOX give it another season …. you wont regret it…. please !!!!!
I was wondering why it wasn’t on Thursday nights anymore here in the L.A. area. There’s only 2 shows I liked this season and they were Blacklist and Rake. The show is funny, Kinnear is hilarious and perfectly cast, (all the other characters are interesting as well) and it is clever. Maybe I just relate to the character in my own life but why wouldn’t it be back for a second season is beyond me? It’s way better than that KTLA vampire/witchcraft B.S.
I’m not only hooked on this series – it’s got me back to network TV. The scripts clever and adult, the cast is wonderful. Miss it but can’t believe this is the last of it!
I am super pissed to say the least that Rake won’t be returning for a second season. Not only was it filled with an all star cast, but it was hilarious and very we’ll acted. I am so upset that reality programs like dancing with whatever, singing star wanna be’s, and chef game shows have taken over the television. Screw the corporate fads! Stick to talented actors entertaining the people who don’t want to watch reality programs.
I love Rake! I love Greg Kinnear! It has smart, witty dialogue that may be too sophisticated for some viewers. Please don’t cancel it!
This show is amazing! Great acting and writing and the cases are unique and fun. I love how each character gets time and story development. At the very least, I watch the show and feel a little better about the stressors in my life. I hope the show is coming back
Looked forward to watching this series. Love Gregg Kinnear’s smile ! Great actors , great series. Hilarious, witty, drama all in one show! Bring Rake back !
