Splash: Will It Be Renewed for Season Two or Cancelled?

Splash: season two or cancel?ABC’s Splash finished its first season several weeks ago and the network hasn’t announced if the diving competition will be back for a second season. Was it a ratings success or will be cancelled instead?

Splash debuted in March to a healthy 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.02 million viewers. Unfortunately, subsequent episodes didn’t do nearly as well. The show lost more than 25% of its audience in week two, another 14% in week three, and another 9% in week four. And the numbers kept falling.

The penultimate episode of the season represented a series low with just a 0.9 demo rating and 4.32 million viewers. The finale did about the same.

Based on the ratings, it seems highly unlikely that Splash will be back for a second season. What’s more, many viewers expressed that the diving was dangerous and the challenges made the show uncomfortable to watch. It seems unlikely that these people would return for another round.

What do you think? Would you like to see Splash return or should it be cancelled instead, to make room for something else?

Please give Splash another chance. It was a very cool show that showed that people of different backgrounds and abilities could conquer their fears with practice and repetition. Bring Back Splash.

I personally liked the show, the same group of people wouldn’t have to return, I think it would be fun to see a completely different cast, and if they really aren’t comfortable with a dive, change it, don’t force them on that particular dive. Anyway I think a second season would be great.

Please renew SPLASH! Our family of 6 loved it! Especially one of our daughters who’s exploring the world of diving.

Enjoyed each and all of the 1st Season episodes, and hope ABC will be able to renew with the same format, location, personnel (contractual issues permitting), and cross-section of contestants – i.e., good ole boys and good-looking gals .
