The Kill Point: Spike TV Kills Season Two Plans

The Kill PointThough things were looking good for Spike TV’s The Kill Point series, it won’t be coming back for a second season.

Kill Point stars John Leguizamo as Mr. Wolf, the leader of a small group of Marines who’ve recently returned from Iraq and decide to rob a major Pittsburgh bank. When things go wrong, the troop is forced to take a dozen hostages and Wolf finds himself battling the police, the hostages, his team members, and his own personal demons. On the outside is Pittsburgh Police Department Hostage Negotiator Horst Cali (Donnie Wahlberg) who goes head-to-head with Wolf to free the hostages before the FBI takes over. The series also stars Michael Hyatt, Tobin Bell, Jeremy Davidson, Leo Fitzpatrick, Frank Grillo, and JD Williams.

The show is cable channel Spike TV’s first original drama and debuted on July 22, 2007. Though Kill Point received mixed reviews, the drama did well in the ratings. It averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 60% increase among Spike TV’s targeted 18-34 male demographic. A faithful audience followed the action through the eight episode season to the conclusion of the bank robbery storyline. Though there would have to be quite a few cast changes, it looked pretty certain that Kill Point would be back for another season. Now it looks like that certainly won’t happen.

Spike TV has now confirmed that they’ve cancelled Kill Point. It seems that the channel would prefer to sink their budget into unscripted reality programming rather than original dramas. A Spike TV spokeswoman told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “We are out of the serialized one-hour business. We need programming that we can repeat.” Though serial dramas don’t tend to attract many viewers in reruns, a rebroadcast of Kill Point’s pilot attracted 1.2 million viewers, a 70% increase over the previous year’s audience for that date and time.

One of the Kill Point’s producers, Todd Harthan, offered some more insight into a possible reason for the change of heart. He said that the channel was initially excited about their ideas for season two but communications broke off as the writers strike was looking more and more imminent. Stay tuned! Spike TV is screwing all things up no DVD released of certain shows like surviving disaster and 1000 ways to die disappoints viewers.

Hey paul from Kenya !!!! what!!!! kill point if the writer dont wanna do session 2….hey i demand…its better than Prison break for real…good story base level and easy to expand ..tip to the writers as a begin of session 2…the last guy to survive..gets the cash from one of the many banks its distributed, organize another marine troop….he is on the ran now the train head to canada, there is more in stack with the mare and her daughter..gets in touch with her, wolf is not really dead, had worn a bullet proof jacket, pretends he is dead….the negotiator leaves him there and goes to call for backup to come pick the body…when he comes back….wolf is gone…more…..lets help them

its a shame kill point was canceled, its one of the most interesting addictive series u can ever watch…i dont care if its on spike or whatever ,but they really need to get it back and do another season, even though its kinda hard since they killed almost all characters in the last episode …anyway i think it would have made a very successful tv drama.

Yeh bull$shit! They are cancelling this in favour of more reality show crap, as if there needs to be more of that on tv. Reality TV is the worst thing that ever happened to entertainment and the fact that this show is getting canned in favour of a show about some halfwit blonde who can’t make up her mind who she wants to marry or some other such nonsense is testement to that fact.

Boo to Spike and all those that watch reality drivle!

did not even to see the last 1-2-shows. you tv stations just screw over the tv watchers. you people put on a half dozen shows, and bang, take it off of the air, leaving us to find it hard to trust a tv station to show a complete ending, and saying shows final show.
