The first episode registered a 1.4 in the 18-49 demographic and 9.45 million total viewers. It was in second place for the timeslot, behind Kitchen Nightmares in the demo. However, A Gifted Man easily won the timeslot in terms of total viewers, attracting nearly as many viewers as NBC, ABC, and CW combined.
Year-to-year, Gifted Man matched now-cancelled Medium’s demo number but improved on total viewership by more than 50%. CBS cancelled Medium with an average 1.4 rating so this wasn’t a great start.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the A Gifted Man TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?

I have never missed an episode of this show, and never plan to. That being said they only seem to cancel the really great shows on the air, and yet we must be on season 1K of Amazing Race and other reality shows of its ilk. (Nothing against those who like the shows, just they are nothing compared to the talent on and behind A Gifted Man is all I am saying.) I know they call Friday the dead zone for a reason. However, I am a mother who never goes out on Fridays and I absolutely LOVE having this… Read more »
This is one of the best shows on TV these days. I watch it regularly; in fact, I make time for it! It would be a good show even without the unusual story line with the reappearing wife. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled!
Love it. Please keep this show!!!!!
This is the best show on television! It’s been a long time since I’ve looked forward to watching anything on primetime TV! Please don’t cancel this show! Patrick Wilson is a wonderful actor, and I love the premise of the show! Friday night is an absolute ratings killer for any show. THis show deserves to be on on a better night to be given a better chance to survive, ratings-wise, no matter how great a show it is.
IT’s refreshing to watch a show with so much heart, that leaves you feeling good afterwards. Please leave it on.
Love the show. I like the ghost who appears, gives us a reason to believe in the after life.
It’s one of the shows I look forward to each week. That Friday night time slot is a killer. But, it’s perfect for Friday!
Patrick Wilson is a dynamic, handsome, wonderful actor. This show is magnificent, please DO NOT cancel it! DMO
I love the show and can’t wait for its return. Its a show that I hope will go far just like ER
i love watching A Gifted Man, it has become one of my favorite tv shows. i always look forward to watching it every friday night at 8 o’clock pm on CBS. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE dont cancel a gifted man.
I dont usually watched network tv anymore but my Mom told me about The Gifted Man
and i gave it a try and think its awesome show i even went to cbs.com to catch up on the 1st 3 shows. Give it another season there have been a few shows that didnt do half as good as the The Gifted Man is doing and after that 2nd season the shows toof off and were on for 10 yrs
I love A Gifted Man and consider it one of the best on TV right now. It raises awareness of the plight of the uninsured and the small clinics who serve them. Patrick Wayne is wonderful as is the rest of the cast. It deserves a second season. Please give it one!!!
I hope this show never gets cancelled. It is the finest show on TV right now. The cast is superior. Patrick Wayne is incredible and Margo Martindale is such a fine actress that she doesn’t even have to speak. Her facial expressions can tell the whole story. I’d like to see Julie Benz be in more episodes. Writers…keep up the good work. CBS…please don’t change a thing about this show. Move it to a diffewrent time slot IF you must but at least keep it on the air. It is my favorite show!
It is my favorite show. Bravo Bravo Bravo!!
Well written and acted. Could lose the imaginary wife though
I love the show …I have spread the word, and encourage my friends and family to watch…please give it another season….Medium was another great show that shouldn’t have been cancelled …..
Please keep A Gifted Man. It has more heart than other medical dramas – showing what the small clinics are dealing with. Patrick Wilson is great and we love having him on TV every week. (Too bad we can’t have him sing, too). All the other actors are really top notch. I’m glad there is not as much emphasis on his dead ex-wife as the first few episodes – that got a little boring. But the show definitely deserves a better time slot.
It’s nice to have a well-written, well-acted show. No more reality TV!!
