The first episode registered a 1.4 in the 18-49 demographic and 9.45 million total viewers. It was in second place for the timeslot, behind Kitchen Nightmares in the demo. However, A Gifted Man easily won the timeslot in terms of total viewers, attracting nearly as many viewers as NBC, ABC, and CW combined.
Year-to-year, Gifted Man matched now-cancelled Medium’s demo number but improved on total viewership by more than 50%. CBS cancelled Medium with an average 1.4 rating so this wasn’t a great start.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

I stay home on
fridays to watch a Gifted Man. There are so few interesting shows on TV, its hard to believe we might lose this one. If, nothing else, give it a try on another night.
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL IT! It changed my life.
Do not cancel this show!!! How can you cancel a show that consistently wins its time slot over all of the other networks??? Please, CBS, leave this one on!!!
There are other people outside of the Demo’s that watch TV too!!
I love this show! Its hard to find something that I actually take the time to watch or record on a Friday night! This is one I don’t miss, not even re-runs! Please CBS keep this on!
It is so hard to find good programming on TV any more. This show is like a breath of fresh air. The acting and the story lines are believable and very touching. It is the one show that I look forward to every week. Disappointed tonight, however, to find that there are more repeats. Please give this show a chance.
Fine show with excellent character actors. The older heavy woman who plays the male lead’s secretary at the posh clinic is a fine actress. Jenifer Ehle as ghost of deceased wife is fun and excellent – she was the female lead in “Pride and Prejudice” and speech therapist Lionel’s wife in “The King’s Speech.” I believe she is English. Am not familiar with male lead, but he is very good as are the two assistant doctors on the staff at the poor people’s clinic. Story-lines are excellent, some very suspenseful. Please give this show time to accumulate a large and… Read more »
I love “the gifted man. My husband and I don’t ever miss an episode. There are so many bad shows on tv, why take off a good one.
This is my favorite show so please don’t cancel it. It is outstanding in so many levels and so refreshing. Please give it a chance.
CBS should give this show a chance. Maybe put it on Sunday nights like they did with Touched by an Angel plus advertise it more. I hardly ever see advertisements for it. We all need a little hope.
I would be sad to see this new series cancelled. It has substance, good acting and story lines. There are soooo many stupid reality shows and sitcoms on now that television has become boring and ridiculous. We need more shows like The Gifted Man! Of course, Patrick Wilson is very easy on the eyes……….
Please don’t take The Gifted Man out of the lineup. It is a quality show with good acting, good stories and not about silly girls or stupid guys and NOT A REALITY SHOW.
We want more shows with good writing, stories and acting.
And of course, more Patrick Wilson!
Our whole complex LOVES The Gifted Man. Please do not….do not take it off.
My husband and I really enjoy this show. Please give it a chance and do not cancel it.
Please do not cancel A Gifted Man. Give it a chance. I simply love it and tape it every week since I am unable to watch at the time it is aired. I look forward to it each week.
Just discovered A Gifted Man a couple weeks ago and have since tried to watch as many back episodes “on demand” as possible to catch up. This is a great show that even my husband will watch with me…..He abhors silly comedies and crime (or anything with weapons or blood) like SVU, NCIS or even Castle. A Gifted Man is intelligent, positive and moral. Give it a chance to be discovered by that I suspect are many others looking for this type of programming.
