The alphabet network hasn’t had much luck launching successful new shows. What’s more, a lot of their existing shows are down year-to-year. Thankfully, the execs can’t cancel everything.
ABC shows (so far): 20/20, 20/20 Saturday, America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Assets, The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, The Bachelorette, Back in the Game, Betrayal, Black Box, Castle, Celebrity Wife Swap, Dancing with the Stars, Extreme Weight Loss, The Goldbergs, The Great Christmas Light Fight, Grey’s Anatomy, Killer Women, Last Man Standing, Lucky 7, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Mind Games, Mistresses, Mixology, Modern Family, Motive, Nashville, The Neighbors, Nightline Prime, NY Med, Once Upon a Time, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Primetime: What Would You Do?, The Quest, Resurrection, Revenge, Rising Star, Rookie Blue, Scandal, Shark Tank, Super Fun Night, The Taste, Trophy Wife, and Wipeout.
Note: Here are the ratings for the 2015-15 season shows.
There’s lots of data that ABC execs looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient.
Check other networks’ rankings:
CBS | The CW | FOX | NBC | ABC Family | TNT
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
It’s the modern day love story & not a fake fairy tale!
Loved this show, please bring it back!!
BRING BACK betrayal!!! I just finished the entire season on Netflix in one day, because it was that good. the connections between these people and their love story is beautiful and should not end like that. This show is worth renewing.
Yes I agree, Betrayal is an excellent show. But then again all the shows that have been cancelled are the ones I watch and the ones I feel are not worth watching are the ones they are keeping. I just don’t get the logic. And also when making these decisions, do they use, DVR, On Demand or any other way a show can be watched at a later time. How and who makes these decisions. I just don’t get it.
Betrayal was a great show from the start! We all watched the episodes and the scenes between Jack and Sara, they were awesome and amazing!
ABC needs to do a summer season to complete the Jack and Sara love story. If ABC wont d it, maybe another station will!
Personally, I will never invest myself in anything abc has to offer. I finally learned my lesson after falling inlove with: Pushing Daisies, Pan Am, V, just to name a few. Disappointed by the ratings, the idiot network yanked these (and other quality shows) because the viewership wasn’t instantaneous enough. There was a time when networks gave shows a chance to find and gain an audience. The real stupidity is that after investing so much money into these programs, they wouldn’t do just that! Instead they pull the plug, which might be forgiven if they had the good sense to… Read more »
Betrayal is a great show…excellent story line…too much good writing to be left unsaid!!! Do Not Cancel!!!
Betrayal is the best show ABC had going. Love this show, please bring it back with Season 2.
I think you should bring back Betrayal or return Jack McAllister into another courtroom drama e.g. Good Wife etc.
I LOVE NASHVILLE PLEASE DONT CANCEL IT!!!! More people should watch it. Stories are great! Actors/Singers are great!!! I happen to love country music, but it isn’t all music..(although the music is awesome!!!!) MY FAVORITE SHOW!!!!
Just watched the Betrayal season on Hulu and loved it! Hate there was not enough of advertisement for this show! BRING IT BACK 🙂

Bring back betrayal….it’s a great story. Had I known about it prior to this week I would have been a loyal watcher. Thanks to hulu. I was able to watch the whole season. Please bring it back.
Good Grief ABC! Scandal was one of the shows I never missed on your network! Even with DVR capability I had to see it minute by minute! The storyline & the cast meshed like no other. When I look @ the “reality” based shows that some if the networks are keeping & the shows they are canceling I see where the target is…..the young audience. What about those if us that enjoy following a storyline!? I do enjoy reality TV but that’s not to say I want to watch it non-stop! I’m in the “middle” age group & we enjoy… Read more »
Please bring back betrayal, I loved the show and can’t wait to see Jack and Sarah. it’s not fair ABC didn’t give the show a chance and didn’t even promote the show. If you don’t bring back Betrayal this will be the ultimate Betrayal from ABC network
Please people, Betrayal is gone for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it was a ratings dog. Week after week it barely pulled in an audience. The acting was mediocre at best with two of the leads slipping back into their native accents every time the acting called for a little emotion. Not only do people not want to watch a show where two cheaters live happily ever after, but how would the Sarah and Jack characters live together with Jack’s son Vic trying to murder Sarah and blaming her for breaking up his parents. Affairs seldom work out… Read more »
Whoa that’s just a lot of words for someone who hates the show. If I hated a show that much, I wouldn’t even comment on it. And let’s be realistic, it’s only tv. It’s not real.
That’s just a lot of accurate words Doris. And you know I’m right. Those are the reasons why it is and should be gone. Those reasons and the main reason, a show centered around a woman having an affair. It just did not work. Oh, and I did not hate the show. I hated all of you Stewart Townsend lovers and everyone that thinks an affair is so romantic. I watched every minute of every episode, sometimes more than once. I still have some of them on my DVR. The main problems with Betrayal were poor craftsmanship and mediocre production,… Read more »
