Both the About a Boy movie and novel were a big success. Will the TV show be a hit as well? Will it be a hit and renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned to find out.
About a Boy revolves around a songwriter (David Walton) who has a big hit that sets him up for life financially. His carefree world is turned upside down when a charming 11-year-old (Benjamin Stockham) and his single mom (Minnie Driver) move in next door.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/9 update: NBC has renewed About a Boy for a second season.
Final season averages: 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.93 million total viewers.
Note: Because the first episode aired outside of primetime, the ratings aren’t counted as part of the season averages.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like About a Boy? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for second season?
This show must continue. I love every one of the characters Its great seeing Minnie Driver again. I love the adult humor within the unique family setting. I am a 60ish person (outside your demographic rating) and just love that the show does not contain overt sexual content or violence. I love the layers of humor, the warm human relationships and the number of truly funny wonderful characters/actors. Each one brings a truly artistic/funny/quirky element to the story. This must continue. NBC or whoever airs this show must air it at 9:00 and not when there are other popular shows.
Love the show, can’t wait to see more.
I absolutely love this show! I literally watched this whole entire season in a day! Please please pleaseeee bring it back! I have not seen a really good comedy show like this one since Friends!
LOVE THIS SHOW ! REFRESHING AND ENTERTAINING!
I love About a Boy. The acting is superb, as good as any movie I have seen. Please bring it back!
My co-workers just told me about this show. I watched an episode and then bought the season on Amazon. LOVE IT!!!!!!
IM REALLY GLAD THAT THERE BRINGING BACK (ABOUT A BOY) I THINK BY BRINGING IT BACK IT WILL GET A STRONG FOLLOWING!!!!!!
Love the show!!!
My partner and I really like this show. However, Will’s sudden cross-country move in the last few minutes of season one’s last episode may require a Dallas-level doöver early in season two. If so, I hope that the second reversal proves more graceful than the first.
Agreed. The season was tied up so neatly and so fast i was sure it was going to be cancelled and that is why they did that. So happy it will be back as i think all the leads are great actors and the writing is very original and funny.
I really like this showand I dont want it to be canceled.
The acting is exceptional. After every episode, I look at my partner and say, God I love that show!!
Please bring it back!! It’s fun, new and creative!!
