Last season, About a Boy was NBC’s highest-rated sitcom. Will it continue to a hit for the network or will the ratings fall? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Time will tell.
About a Boy revolves around San Francisco songwriter Will Freeman (David Walton) who had a big hit. It set him up for life financially — and gave him a lot of freedom and free time. His world is turned upside down when a charming boy named Marcus (Benjamin Stockham) and single mom named Fiona (Minnie Driver) move in next door.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/9 update: NBC has cancelled About a Boy after two seasons.
2/18 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The first season of About a Boy averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.93 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like About a Boy? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for third season?
Please Don’t cancel this show, it’s awesome and one of our favorites!!
love “About a Boy”, and now you’ve cancelled it! Why? Wasn’t it violent enough? Whoever runs your network should be let go!
I agree with the above comments. This show could be a timeless original series for sick coms! It’s totally a new and cute concept that almost any of all ages can get into. It leaves a warm feeling at the end of every episode that keeps you wanting more!! Plzz don’t Cancel About a Boy 🙁
I am completely sick and tired of getting invested into a TV show and then it being cancelled after the first or second season. what is the point in even starting a new TV show? I think I will not! this was a cute and hilarious wholesome show for a family to watch. Apparently if a show doesn’t have sex, violence, gore, or revolve around homosexuality it will be cancelled!! Grrrr….
So sad to hear about the cancellation. People like Undateable better? At least run the rest of the episodes.
Love, love, love this show!!!! PLEASE Do Not Cancel it! Other than The Voice, every show I have ever loved from NBC gets cancelled after Season 2 and I am at the point I feel like I should just ignore all new programming because if I like it and get into it, they will just cancel it!
Please renew about a boy !!! love this show!!!
Please renew about a boy!!!!!! love this show!!!!! and i wont to see more of it

Please renew about a boy-great cast-great chemistry and great writing-
Don’t usually watch comedies but love this show-don’t be like ABC and cancel every
great program on the network-miss my weekly show-please-please renew
another season!!!!!
My husband and three kids love this show! It’s hilliarious, charming, and sweet — please do not cancel it! We’ve been wondering where it went….
I love about a boy and wish NBC would stop canceling good shows. How do you expect to build a fan base for shows if you don’t even let them get past a second or third season. Give it one more season and then make a decision to cut the show. Save About a Boy and Marry Me.
Please please renew about a boy I love this show .
This show is so funny. My daughter and I love this show. I’ve been looking for new episodes now for at least a month. I really hope you don’t cancel this show.
You need to keep this show on the air! My three boys and I watched it every Tuesday. That’s about all we watch on NBC.
Please don’t cancel this show. .it is one of our favorites. I love watching Marcus finding his way with Wills help. So much better than typical tv these days. Look forward to it. Also already purchased season one on dvd.
