While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.
Finally, what do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Aftermath TV show? Do you think Syfy and Space should have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I get in too a show and they cancel it thats 3rd show now that syfy has give the axe too that i have liked Warehouse 13 , Eureka and now aftermath they need too give the axe too shows like face off
I just can’t believe it. Every time you bate us with a great show it gets the boot. Ratings are fake just like everyone being polled for there opinion. No one in my family has ever been polled for there opinion on anything. Therefore, it is time to get on with it and make season 2.
“Men In Trees” all over again- I was so excited to see Anne Heche and James Tupper in a series together again, love them. Just like before, an amazing series is cancelled before its time. It is like getting lost in a book, only to find that the last half of the pages were never printed- so frustrating! It was such a great show.
Done with Syfy channel. Cancel great shows. Get my interest then gone. Redo on cable bill so this group is gone in February.
I watched it 1-13 on My5 and was the only series I enjoyed and wanted to know what happend next. So whenever I had spare time I caught up, wandering where the episodes were going to take us. It wasn’t a 5star rating series, however it ALWAYS kept me Watching and wanting more.
How can you start a story full of plots, twists and turns and not finish it?!?? Very dissapointing.
Just finished binge watching the entire season. Not the best show but it was an interesting one. I hate getting into a show and then not being able to see how it all ends.
We are upset that you guys cancelled after math after the 1st season we watched the show every Tuesday if we we’re not home we’re set the TV to record it this really sucks. Channel Zero should be taking off it stupid…
I am very disappointed to hear that “Aftermath” is cancelled. I really enjoyed the show and was anxiously looking forward to a 2nd season. I do not believe that the show was advertised enough and that is why the ratings were low. Very disappointed. ☹️️
I’m upset that it’s cancelled after one season. I’ve been waiting for a show like this….
I haven’t seen a series this good in years. Excellent actors and storyline. Sci fi shows always get canceled because there aren’t as many viewers. I don think it got a fair calling. I told my friends about the show but they never heard of it. Once i told them about Aftermath they said it sounded interesting and would check it out. Perhaps a bit more advertising would be helpful. I hope they rethink canceling Aftermath it was too good to never see again.
I’m not surprised.
It wasn’t such a good show.
Storyline, dialogs… quite erratic.
But I liked a couple of episodes on season 1…
This is ridiculous, Syfy just couldn’t care less what it’s viewers want to see. They renew the garbage shows and cancel the good shows. I will not watch syfy anymore. I am boycotting syfy.
Very disappointed in that decision.. The heads at space tv canada just dont know a great show when they see one.. Hoping syfy will come with another great show in the very near future.. znation sucks! Yet they still show it.. Ive never seen a much more boring show than that.. I made it though 2 minutes of that retarded show and switched the channel..
My husband and I are very dissapointed Aftermath will not have a second season! Although there were some problems with the storyline and interactions between characters, we really enjoyed it overall, and were excited to see what would happen in season two. It’s too bad the producers couldn’t wait to see how season two went before cancelling; this just sucks!
At least make a syfy origami movie to wrap up all the lose ends
