While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.

This was a great show. I just discovered it and I was looking forward to season 2. Why do was it cancelled? The show should be brought back.
Please please reconsider!! Bring out season 2 just finished 1 it a good show it can’t end with Josh going into a trailer with Moondog!!! Too many good show get canceled! Why start if you won’t finish

Welllll. I have to say I’m not surprised. The show really had some bad writing. was defenitely your average B movie type SYFY Channel show. I can’t see how people compared it to TWD. Really had nothing in common with the show. The characters just weren’t made real enough. There wasn’t enough drama even though that seems like what they were going for. I LOVED this show! Just finished catching up with it and am so sad to hear series 2 won’t be airing. What a shame. Thought the first 5 episodes and the last were great. It got a little drawn out toward the end but I’d still invest in a second season. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!
I watched till the end, but it WAS a trainwreck. Would like a bit of a wrap up, but would have been surprised at a second season.
I loved the show. I think it is ridiculous that you are not having any more seasons. Isn’t that how you are suppose to make your money. Get more views and the more people that watch the more popular it gets. The better advertising you will get hence commercial etc. what the crap. You get people like me fall in love with the characters and can’t wait for the next season and cancel. Just don’t seem fair. Makes me not want to watch your channel at all.
Why do these rating only go for the 18-49 yr. old demographics ? We are 60+ and found the series on demand (on Spectrum) and really enjoy it ! It is well worth viewing!! Renew it for a 2nd season!!!

I liked the show certainly not surprised by it;s cancellation. As it hit that spot I have come recognize as being a niche that I like but wouldn’t draw a big enough audience to sustain it> So not really surprised disappointed yes, but surprised no.

What the heck?!?! I loved this show. It had everything. The main problem with humanity is that everyone thinks they know more than the other and if not, they want to. This show had everybody’s theories. Science, mythology, conspiracy, demons and angels. The true emd of the world. This show was as good as “TWD” and “FTWD”. The only shows I really watch. SYFY AND SPACE…you should have given it a chance. You messed up. I even used to hang out with friends just to watch this…boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I thought the show’s premise was a good one. I was looking forward to see encounters with an array of mythological beings and creatures. With so much lore to draw from, the series had such entertainment potential. The doomsday scenario could’ve been brought to some end or averted or postponed. Then the series could’ve taken on road adventure where they would encounter a different danger each episode. I really enjoyed Aftermath. I believe it was the best new show on in years. It’s a shame that they won’t renew this.
