NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
This is sad. Allegiance was a good show. In my opinion it is tons better than The Slap…
good show should not be cancelled
Show the remaining episodes. This was a great series. Very disappointed
The show was good need to put back on and finish it . It was good and interesting had my attenstion
Ah, come on, give this show a chance. Put in in a better time slot and it will soar. Wednesday night sucks, put it on then and advertise it well. I really miss this show along with all my friends who come over to watch it. THINK about the shows you pitted it against. Bring it back!!!
such bulls*** i hate networks for real this show was the best sickening
This was a good show, fast moving, well acted. SHOW THE REMAINING EPISODES1
Terrible decision by NBC to cancel Allegiance. I was really getting into it and looked forward to each weeks episode of intrigue and daring. NBC I am done with you!
Robert, I agree with your opinion, 100%! It was just getting deep when Alex learned the truth about his parents, but……
I concur with your comment “NBC, I am done with you!!!!”
I think it was a big mistake to cancel a fine show like Allegiance! It was a great, well-written, well-acted show, and kept you interested. NBC…BRING ALLEGIANCE BACK ON TV! You left us hanging …and that is not fair to your loyal viewers!
The show SLAP should have NEVER been put on TV .. it is stupid and ridiculous.
Kathie, I agree with your opinion, 100%! It was intriguing, and just just getting deep when Alex learned the truth about his parents, but……
I concur with your comment “NBC, …Bring it back on TV!!”
How sad! I loved this show! Agree with comment above. Going to stop watching shows until they have run a full season. They should have the decency to at least write an ending.
Bummer! Thought this was a very good show. Different then The Americans becasue they actually want to save America on this one..NOT destroy it! Was really looking forward to watching it build. 🙁
Why didn’t NBC just run this as a seasonal program. I am really disappointed in NBC programming on weekday evenings. Their offerings except for the Blacklist really stinks.
Can’t understand why they didn’t have some finality to Alligence. The Slap is a really stupid show. Alligence was a better show. I watch CBS, they have really good programming with their crime shows. Oh yea, Chicago Fire and Police are really good. Keep those. I watch them all of the time. NBC needs to clean house on their management and get better primetime programming in line with CBS.
I think I am going to have to stop watching NBC all together. This show was great and I really enjoyed watching it. Tired of shows getting cancelled after 3 to 5 episodes.
I love this show. And I know several other people who are also really dissapppointed.
WHAT A SHAME!!! Intelligent, smart dialogue is obviously a lost art – with so much of reality TV ingrained in John Q’s public minds when a show makes you stop and think and not have to call in to vote or download on I Tunes then it is a flop – here’s an idea -try to move to a different timeslot or at least air 13 episodes to see if the rest of the intelligent viewing public catch up – Yeah, I like the Voice, but I also like the Flash, The Arrow, and Criminal Minds, NCIS, and Penny Dreadful –… Read more »
