NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I loved the show. Please continue!
I love this show and it stinks that they are !! I hope another network picks it up and gives it half a chance, the show is too good not to gain a large following with the proper time slot and advertising to make people aware of the show. Sign this petition if you want NBC to consider bringing it back — this petition so far has been successful in getting all 13 episodes aired (on nbc.com) https://www.change.org/p/nbc-save-allegiance
Please finish off the season. there were lots of fans.
Had great potential, if they’d only given it time! I really liked it, but will be hesitant in the future to begin watching any continuous show on TV. You never know when they’ll just dump it with no closure (i.e. Revolution, and now Allegiance). Waste of time!
I love the show. It should have never been canceled.
I Loved the show. For those who truly loved it, for those who are commenting here about their love for the series, and for those who loved it, but aren’t here commenting on it, NBC should at least air the last few episodes to at least give us some closure. I am truly Bummed!!!!!!!!!! :’-(
What the F??? NBC finally get a show that is decent and interesting and you cancel it? No wonder ABC and CBS are kicking your ass in ratings. You have some not so smart folks running your TV section. I hope Allegiance can stay alive at another TV station. Advertise it please so I can find your show.
sucks! this was a great show. i hope they show the rest online.
Loved the show. Should not have canceled. Big disappointment
LOVE everything about this show; couldn’t wait to see the next episode!!! All of a sudden it’s gone – because of ratings? Does anyone remember how low the ratings were for the first season of Breaking Bad!! (The Oscar winning drama!!). Hoping this will be picked up by another network SOON!!!
Loved the show! NBC should not have canceled. Very disappointed.
Love the show very well done
Some shows start with lower then expected rating and end up being huge hits . I think this is one of those .
I wonder how the networks keep track of the people who watch shows either on Demand or by DVR .
Love love love the show……cancel some of the reality shows and keep the good ones on the air
I agree, lose reality tv shows.
Loved the show and the suspense in every episode! It should not have been cancelled! Every time I find a great show like this, it gets cancelled and I’m left with so many unanswered questions. It’s so frustrating!,
We loved the show. Great characters
