NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Loved the show please bring it back!
I like Allegiance. It should not be cancelled. The producers should drum up the fact that it is shot in Philadelphia to attract more viewers.
My husband and I continue to thoroughly enjoy Allegiance on demand. PLEASE give us another season or 8!
We like Allegiance, they cancel it. We like State of Affairs, that one might be canceled, we liked the Bridge on FX, they canceled that one. Why watch a show if they decide to cancel it before it even makes it to the end? The problem is, everyone wants to watch reality TV which is sucky TV. Enough with losing shows before they even get a chance to gather steam.
What ever happened with State of Affairs? I don’t remember ever seeing a season ending episode?
SOA was hard to understand. People didn’t speak clearly and the plot lines were difficult, and with all the Arabic names. I had no choice but to watch on “On Demand” so I could replay key parts.
Allegiance is much better than State of Affairs.
my wife and I have seen all the episodes on (on-damand). not only did we get into the plot but got one of our best friends to start looking . hopefully some body else will pick it up and run with it.
I am so dissapointed in the shows cancellation!! What is wrong with you guys? Good shows that doesnt show all manner of sex and sickness doesnt sell does it?
i’m from the Philippines but i like watching foreign tv series. allegiance was faaaaaaar better than blacklist which should’ve been cancelled a long time ago…..please bring it back!!
I love blacklist and I still agree that Allegiance is better!
Finally a great drama without all the sex and swearing, and the network has to cancel it because of an out of date rating system.
I just got around to watching the 10 episodes of Allegiance in 2 days off my DVR, could not view it live because I was doing Netflix (The people who are putting the broadcast networks out of biz) marathons. What the heck is wrong with this network, they keep canceling the best shows on TV. Clearly there is something wrong with the process going on here, rating system and decision to cancel. NBC needs to wake up and realize this is not the same market it was, they have much more competition in the top time slots, they’re desperate for… Read more »
AMEN. These idiots have NO idea how far their shows travel. They’re only measuring a tiny fractio n of their views using their old methods.
I watch ALL my tv shows on Couchtuner.er I’m guessing they never even think about that, do they? Those “Neilson Ratings” system are from the 1950’s! What morons.
Allegiance was the best show on NBC except for possibly The Blacklist. Removing your best shows is why I don’t usually watch NBC. Maybe you could possibly keep these shows running on your website. Face it. People don’t have time to watch live episodes. I have watched all episodes on the internet.
Why did you cancel. After only 5 episode. I was able to be watch all 11 episodes. Only to be left with on hell of a cliff hanger.
Pleasebri v it back. If not I’m hoping another network picks it up.
Allegiance was the best NBC show to date, except for possibly The Blacklist. Cancellation of your best shows is why I usually don’t watch NBC.
I was read about this program. It was just as I was read it is GOOD, CLEAN (which is UNHEARD of these days) and thrilling to watch. PLEASE BRING IT BACK replace some of the FILTH on TV for us. Tell us who asks for the FILTH.
Allegiance was a great show and shouldn’t have been cancelled. It seemed that in today’s age and the issues that were brought up in its short run were very applicable. It was well written, well acted, no big name stars but a few young Actors that showed potential to develop. If the numbers were that bad, it wasn’t promoted correctly. The people that I suggested this show, were hooked since they 1st saw it. It’s a shame that a Great Show like this gets cancelled and more KUWTK or HWO? junk get TV Time. The Networks should give Real TV… Read more »
