NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I love this show! Action packed- love following the family- I am saddened to see this show is being cancelled. NBC should give this show another chance- maybe another time slot. Allegiance never showed up on my local TV cable guide. I could only watch it on demand. Not sure what the problem was.
This was a great show. Wish they would bring this back for season 2 maybe on a different night.
Can’t believe that they would cancel this show. It was so compelling and well constructed.
Love this show. Just finished the last episode and now I want more. I am so sick and tired of the good shows being canceled and replaced with garbage reality shows that I canceled my cable and now use Hulu Plus exclusively. Makes me want to punch someone. Lol
I love this show
I love the show. I’ve watched the whole season. I wish the show would go on. NBC, please re-consider bring back the show alive…

they should renew it!!
Before renewing it, they need to show the 13 episodes from Season I, preferably this summer. Episode 13 had a great conclusion that left open a plot for 13 more episodes.
Allegiance is so good and one of my favorite shows. Please continue with season 2! Let our joy reign on!
I agree the show may have started off slow. But ended up turning into a very well thought out thriller. They really should renew the show
I feel cancelling this show is a big mistake. I am mad about the way NBC doesn’t give a show a chance. State of Affair is another big let-down from NBC. The show was good and left hanging in mid air. Shame on you guys and gals at NBC.
I watched the series OnDemand due to my work schedule and enjoyed it very much! It is a very good series and always wants you wanting more at the end of the show! Very good acting!! Very good story! Was very upset to find there will not be a season two!!
I hope someone will reconsider!
I liked the show very much. I think they should do a second season.
I just finished watching season 1 and it was excellent. It sure sounded like season 2 was setup to be very good oh well…. too bad. Do not understand why it got cancelled, it was one of my favorite shows and I went the extra mile find a way to get it on the Internet. Too bad NBC.
So mad its cancelled! It might’ve started off slow but man did it draw me in more and more each episode! Maybe someone else will continue it!
I hope they do. It was just getting good. Do they ever catch the bad guy? How is Sam? What SVR agent is going to get turned? It makes me mad too. You are right, Leah.
Alex Did catch the bad guy, after foiling his plot, but had to let him go, because he had a conscience. Sam, as I expected was alive and in the hospital, but they didn’t show his face in the final episode. Regarding SVR, Victor becomes the new head in the USA, (after he killed the old Rezident). He would be working as a spy for the CIA, in episode II.
