American Idol will air its final season on Fox starting in January, and the judges received a big surprise at the auditions they held in San Francisco last week.
USA Today reported that Kanye West showed up, and he actually auditioned for Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. with a performance of his song “Gold Digger.” He performed the song acapella, and Lopez definitely enjoyed what he did.
A fan managed to take some footage of the performance, and it was shared on Twitter.

Kim Kardashian and Ryan Seacrest also shared photos of Kanye West at the audition.

Fox announced earlier this year that American Idol season 15 would be the last season of the reality competition series. Back in 2013, the American Idol producers approached Kanye about becoming a judge on the series, but he turned the offer down. According to Us Weekly, he thought it was too mainstream for him.
