Mena Suvari is coming to TV Land. Variety reports the actress has been cast in the network’s new pilot American Woman.
Based on the life of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, the comedy “is set in the ’70s amid the sexual revolution and the rise of feminism.” Alicia Silverstone will play the lead, single mother Bonnie Nolan.
From Variety:
“American Woman” centers on Bonnie Nolan (Silverstone), a 40-year-old woman with a beautiful home and two beautiful daughters. Finding herself alone after her marriage fails, Bonnie is an enigma of the times: a single woman with no means to support herself or her children.
Suvari (“American Beauty”) will play Kathleen, one of Bonnie’s closest friends. Kathleen yearns for love and marriage but her habit of picking up so-called “boy toys” who exploit her for her looks and her money stands in the way of her happiness.”
