It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Screw narrative. I want to know what happens next!!
PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!
I typed a lengthy, thoughtful critique and suddenly everything I wrote disappeared mid key-stroke so heck with it. Ending season on cliffhanger was bad idea and screwed us all.
You suck! Bring it back. Everytime there’s a great show y’all cancel it. I WANT MORE!!!!
please we want a second season
Man oh man was that a fun show to watch; and that catch at the end: IT WAS ARIEL ALL ALONG! I always hate saying good-bye especially to a great show with such potential, but this story really did come full circle and makes for a great mini series that can be watched many times over.
I’d love to see this cast together again someday for something fun and new. “Good-bye” my YMA pals ;).
Bring it back! Just because it maybe wasn’t mainstream enough is definitely no reason to take down such a great story! Now that we know about Jamie’s power, a resurrection of Jude is possible and I see so much more lose ends… So please!!!!!!!
Bring it back!! I really looked forward to watching this show, it was so funny and so different from everything else currently on tv. What a shame they are cancelling after the first season!! I’m very disappointed, loved this show.
What in the world???? How can you just cancel the show and say it came to its natural conclusion??? Give us something!! Is the conclusion supposed to be that season 1 was just a sick joke, and the network somehow gets off on letting viewers down?
I don’t watch tv very often, but I was way into this show. I want answers to all of the crazy, interesting plot twists! At least have the writers come up with some kind of Cliffsnotes or something!?!?!?
No kidding right especially with Jamie and Rajesh being outside and Ariel inside the bunker
I can’t believe how sad I am that this show ended with no ending. It had everything I want in a program. I have heard that another show I enjoy may be cancelled too. I think I will have to stop watching broadcast network shows and opt for cable shows.
I love this show, it makes me beyond happy. If you wont air it ,make hulu do it as an original series.
Yes, please! Come on hulu. Continue!!
Bring it back! At least let Jaime in the damn bunker! Make one last episode.. Maybe a made for TV movie… There is a big enough fan base for that at least. Besides… We don’t really need the voice 2 nights a week every week
Yes, keep it going. What will happen when the dust settles? The possibility of the second coming and possibly a resurrection of Jude, come on it was great!
It makes no sense for them to claim that it came to its logical conclusion when they’d woven throughout the story the supernatural son of God narrative. Obviously they had plans for Jamie to use his powers to save the world and vanquish Aerial. Just admit it didn’t get the ratings and you pulled the plug. It’s crushing because it was a great show. By don’t insult the fans who actually loved it by claiming it makes sense from a story telling perspective.
I loved it!!!! It was hysterical….I am s sick of reality shows. This is one of the few shows I liked.
