It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I am competely and utterly shaken. This is a show that really made me happy to watch. And it was about my favorite topic. Im devastated.
YES, we need to know who is in the box.
Omg I totally forgot about the box!!! This is yet another reason we need another season!
No!!!!! This is horrible. I loved this show and looked forward to seeing the rest of it but of course it just gets cancelled. Thanks SKY your the best!
No!!! This is horrible how can you leave us hanging one more season please this makes me not want to warmth anything on nbc again as they may leave us with such a big cliff hanger… It’s not good business, restore my faith and bring it back!!!!
I really enjoyed this show. I thought it was a fresh, out of the box tv show. I am extremely disappointed that it ended on a cliff hanger, but life goes on.
All they have to do is let the fans write in ideas for scripts for future episodes. I’m sure it could result in several more entertaining seasons.
I loved this show. Of course, I only watch Netflix and Hulu, so I didn’t watch as it was airing. Sad to know Jamie will never be rescued now. I need to start finding out if things have been canceled before I commit and invest. lol. Poop.
Im done ivesting time in things that get canceled, from now on i want to see season 2 in the box before commiting
Maybe they can bring it back, with dancers that sing while running though an obstacle course made up of a series of cooking challenges that reveal forensic clues to solve a series of grizzly crimes perpetrated by super human corrupt cops from the 70s, and then more people will watch.
I gave this a watch and honestly after five episodes I gave up. It just wasn’t…. funny enough, compelling enough, or interesting enough. It bewilders me how so many people tout this as one of the best series on television. I can think of a dozen others that made me laugh out loud and genuinely take interest in characters. From the start I wondered who was the mental-defective that would start a series in which at the end of the very first season the world essentially comes to an end. So, what then, 8 more seasons of people trapped in… Read more »
Its more of a drama than a comedy. If you waited long enough you would have seen the story pick up.
So disappointed. One of the best shows of the year.
Such IDIOTS!
Finally there is a great show with so many twists and turns and in true network or powers that be fashion it gets cancelled.
that simply isn’t fair. if they didn’t want to continue it, they should NOT have included SUCH a massive twist right at the end making the end the ultimate cliff hanger. they HAVE to do a second season, we HAVE to know what comes next. this is an outrage!
Oh no not again! Another good show cancelled? I looked forward to that show every week. I loved all the plot twists and surprises. Curse you NBC.
This is one of the best things i have watched in ages, You me and the apocalypse… I can not wait for a second series. Myself and my co workers at the hospital have been speculating on what is coming. Fingers crossed it will not be too long
It’s been cancelled 🙁
