It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I would not have watched it if I knew it was only half of a show! Ridiculous! It’s like opening an empty gift! Put me or someone intelligent in charge of decisions about what shows get aired! They make a lot of bad decisions!
I WANT TO WATCH SEASON TWO! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!
Such a great breath of fresh air! It makes me sick that it was cancelled too!
No. It wasn’t hard to make a season 2. The good brother was by a manhole when locked outside the bunker. He and the other guy trapped outside could have escaped by using that to get into the drainage system of the bunker?
This show is awesome. It’s exciting, intellectual and just fun. I can’t wait to see what happens every week. Why would you cancel it?
I’m crushed!
With the son of God left outside i guess anything could be possible for a second coming (season)
Omg! YES YES YES! LOVE YOUR AWESOME COMMENT!
I agree…A 2nd season could have great possibilities, as I am very disappointed in how the show ended. But it could also be, Jamie was left outside for a reason…As the story goes…in the past…(Jamie dies)…”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son”
My son is going to be crushed this was a show that we could watch together that I didn’t have to worry about a random sex scene. I hope Netflix picks it up if there is no chance NBC will reconsider.
My husband and I just finished watching the season finale 15 minutes ago and he was thankful to me for introducing him to the show. It was bad enough I discovered Jamie was stuck outside the bunker and now I find out there is no season 2!! Gosh darn it!! How am I going to tell my husband there’s no season 2??
Ok. This was one of the best Network series this season. Never seen anything like it. Dark, funny, dramatic AND brilliant acting. Please reconsider. Jamie could go down the manhole he was right next to. Plenty possibilities for a season two.
There’s going to be survivors and a story to tell. Plus we have to know who was in the crate!
Just what I was thinking. Very short sighted of sky and NBC if they didn’t realise this??
Why do all the good shows get cancelled?????
Ok who is in the crate?
This always happens! We get hooked on something fresh, original, fascinating – and they cancel it! Boogers!
I can’t believe there won’t be a season 2! I looked forward to watching this every Thursday. At least film long enough to get Jamie in the bunker. And Ariel out.
My husband and I loved the show and are very disappointed that they are leaving it like that! Please do another season!!
I had the best time watching this show. Of course they always keep the crap on and cancel what most people like. Longmire is a great example. Its not mindless reality.
I loved the show and feel very crestfallen that it won’t at least wrap it up better with one more season. The first thing i said after final episode was “is that seriously it?” very disapointing
