It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
What a big, big joke in the viewer that his show is cancelled!! It had super high ratings with viewers and critics alike and had me on the edge of my seat every time. Acting was spectacular. What’s the deal with a show like this being cancelled? The people at NBC have lost their minds. If you want to do the viewers a favor NBC will change their minds and there will be a season 2. Maybe someone in charge is actually reading this for a change. Would be nice.
I thought the show was supposed to be a one-season series, but you can’t end it with a mystery person in a box and Jaime (Jaime!? What?!) outside, There has to be more! This show was intelligent, funny, and quirky. You can’t tell me there isn’t an audience for that.
I loved it. I really wish there would be a season two. I know they’ve kind of written themselves into a corner being confined to the bunker, but maybe not. Ugh. Really liked this show.
There MUST be a second season…,Come on now…it was one of the most clever and entertaining series I have watched in a long time. PLEASE!!
Would like to see a season two.
Clever plot twists, plenty of dark humor, characters to care about, big theological questions remaining–please reconsider and renew the show
Of course….. It’s smart and good and well written, acted, edited…….. What’s the problem? Need more room for dancing and kids and formula 57 sit coms??? Please reconsider. Or please watch me follow this show to Netflix
No!! I knew as soon as I realized the show was well written and cleverly acted that it would get the axe. Why are we not allowed smart tv anymore!? This is why I only have Hulu and Netflix. Utterly ridiculous.
I really liked this show is binge watched season 1 in a day
.I’m sad it was canceled perhaps another network could pick it up
This was such a great show! Not enough or to get the ratings! Run it again this summer and make a season 2! How can Ariel win over Jamie?????and who is in the box???
Absolutely the best new show in years. Nbc needs to give it a chance. This is the very reason only well written award winning shows are on pay tv or netflix which is not as expensive. Nbc get your heads out of your ***es! I can’t stand another cop or reality show. Listen to your viewers.
Really enjoyed this show, so many questions…who was in the box? Did Jamie go down the adjoining manhole? Please renew!
Please please please give us a season 2! I want to know who is in the box! Best show from the networks in a long time and it gets cancelled! Say it isn’t so!!
Each episode kept getting better. Actors were great. I fell in love with this show. And like others said previously, how does a show like this get cancelled while there is an abundance of crap out there??? So many possibilities to continue this show. Please find a way!!! I can’t take anymore of The Walking Dead!!
This is very disappointing. There are so many poorly written shows and reality TV and it was refreshing to see well-acted and intelligently written entertainment. Please reconsider. Remember that “Cheers” and “Mash” we’re nearly cancelled because they were not initially well received.
