It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I want a season 2 of “You me and the apocalypse”
I cannot believe it was cancelled with everyone in the bunkers. Please reconsider it beats out of reality TV.
I thought this was a bizarre and fun series that always left me wanting more. I would love to see a second season. If “Last Man on Earth” can find enough post-apocalyptic material to be on the air, You, Me, and the Apocalypse certainly can too! (OK so maybe I just want to know, who is the girl in the box?).
Seriously? NBC is cancelling this brilliant show?! Of course they are. They wouldn’t know a good show if it smacked them in the face! Thanks for nothing NBC.
Hell yes there should be another season. .I would hate it if that is how it’s ended. .
It’s frustrating when you devote/invest so much of your time to a tv series for it to end after one season and with many unanswered questions. It’s like you wasted all your time. It wasn’t a perfect series, but the characters were well played and the series had an intelligent/fresh look. I am not asking for 10 seasons here but a second season wouldn’t hurt, at least to show the aftermath of the comet and to show if Jamie made it or not.
I am so disappointed! This is the only show worth watching. I loved all the characters and the story was creative and fast moving. I will quit watching TV again.
Please,Please do not cancel this show!!!! .It is BRILLIANT!!!!. NBC needs to wake up and realize, that when they finally air an intelligent show, that they actually have an intelligent audience to watch it !!!. Bring it back.
I’d love to see a follow up, but maybe in a a special “TV movie” format with just one or two segments. And only if:
1. Father Jude didn’t really die, and somehow makes into the bunker.
2. Jamie gets in.
3. The meteor strike turns out to be less destructive than predicted, lots of people survive, and the folks in the bunker come out into a fresh new day.
Maybe if Jude shows up in Slough just as everyone finds out the meteor didn’t kill everybody, finds Jamie, and the two of them rescue the people in the bunker.
It would be nice if they at least had a finale show that had some sort of conclusion.
Can’t believe that they would cancel this show, was one of the best ones I have watched in awhile. If they don’t change their minds, please Netflix or Hulu swipe this one up!!!
Please please renew this fantastic show!!! We were shocked at the ending and with all the unanswered questions there has to be a season two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NBC is making a big mistake!!!
Really annoyed to read it’s been cancelled, I hate it when a season ends with loads of unanswered questions then cancels it. It’s like what’s the point. Just put them all in the bucker happerely if you didn’t intend to make a second seasons. Just what is the point!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, THERE HAS TO BE A SECOND SEASON !!!!!
My mother, sister and I would sit together and watch this show. Every episode had us saying NO WAY that did not just happen. I can’t name another tv show (since Lost) that makes me say that continuously. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and was dissapointed to read that there is no second season. There are just too many unanswered questions: who is in the box? What will happen to Jamie? What about Celine’s baby? I HAVE TO KNOW. Please do not cancel this show 🙁
