Last season, NBC tried a very unconventional approach with Aquarius by releasing the entire season online and then airing episodes on television. Supposedly, most people still watched the show on TV (to low ratings). Will the show perform any better in season two? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
Set in 1960s Los Angeles, Aquarius, revolves around the generational conflict between an experienced homicide detective (David Duchovny) and an idealistic undercover vice cop (Grey Damon). The rest of the cast includes Gethin Anthony, Emma Dumont, Claire Holt, Michaela McManus, Brian F. O’Byrne, Chance Kelly, Cameron Deane Stewart, and Madison Beaty.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
10/2 update: NBC has cancelled Aquarius after two seasons. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Because the first three episodes aired without commercials, their numbers weren’t included in the final ratings. For that reason, we only have the fast affiliates.
For comparisons: The first season of Aquarius averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.79 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Aquarius TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a third season?
This show is fantastic and it must be renewed!
Great Show – really hoping for 3rd seasons. I particularly like characters-actors Gethin Anthony (Charlie), David Duchovny (Sam), Grey Damon (Brian), Chance Kelly (Ed), Claire Holt (Charmain), Gaius Charles (Bunchy)
Excellent show! I keep having to resist the temptation to look up the actual history, which would give away some of the story line. This MUST come back for a third season
With a 0.33, there is no way in this world NBC is bringing this back. that would be almost as humiliating as the 2014-15 season, when one show survived(when none should have) and it was then cancelled the next season.
Absolutely love the show! Please bring it back for a third season!
TV and cable are mostly a vast wasteland of garbage. Aquarius is one of the few exceptions. Please do your viewers the courtesy of renewing of.
Hate to burst your bubble but I believe it was cancelled. Being in Sat. and Lead Det. leaving…
You can’t blame NBC for the low ratings. The first season got 6.131 viewers at the premiere and in the second season got 2.989 viewers at the premiere. It lost viewers and that’s not NBC’s fault or the Olympics. People stopped watching the series and you can’t denied that. Because of that, the channel had no choice but put the series on Saturday. That’s the true.
Not to mention, all of the episodes have been available online already on nbc .com
Please bring Aquarius back!!! I love that show
NBC is awful at cancelling the good shows.. Every show should have a three season package for everyone to become aware of the show.. Then move it @Netflix.. I enjoy catching up on good show I wasn’t able to DVR at the time. @netflix should partner up with all the new shows on the roster and in the background conduct their own surveys to determine if the new show is capable of surviving additional seasons on their network if the show is cancelled.. To be honest some of the best shows are not on TV. I’m finally catching up on… Read more »
I really like this show. I think both the show and the viewers got a raw deal from NBC, or whoever is responsible, for the mess they made airing season two. I’m sure they missed gaining a lot of new viewers and lost some first season fans out of frustration and confusion…too bad. I’ll be disappointed, but not surprised, if there isn’t a third season as if feels as though the network doesn’t care about the show or the audience. : \
I enjoyed the series b/c it brought interesting imagination to the Mason story, stepped into the burgeoning women’s movement and brought in the Black Panther’s perspective & experience with police.
It would be fascinating to see what a 3rd season would bring. And to have something worthwhile on Saturday nights. I especially like the double episodes.
I’m a big fan of the show and really hope it gets a 3rd season. I feel it’s one of the few on the air that requires thought. Much like How to get Away with Murder you have to listen and get to laugh at times. I appreciate the re-telling of historic events. Makes me get online while watching to learn more about the situation.
I don’t see any way this show gets renewed. It shouldn’t have been renewed after season one, but this is NBC.
Love the show. It’s very addictive. Can’t watch it every week but i binge watch when i get to see it.
