It looked like Army Wives might be coming to an end after six seasons. Now, it turns out that last night’s cliffhanger season ending might be a good sign for season seven.
Series star Catherine Bell has noted that, while Army Wives hasn’t been cancelled, it hasn’t been renewed yet either. Via her Twitter account, Bell said that the cast and crew filmed two endings for the season six finale which was filmed in June. Presumably one that would wrap up the show and another that would serve as a cliffhanger to lead into season seven.
Though Army Wives hasn’t been renewed, Bell hints that it’s “kind of a good sign” that Lifetime went with the cliffhanger ending instead of the tidy one.
If the Lifetime show does indeed come back, you can be sure that Bell will be a part of it. The actress signed a new two year deal with the studio back in May. It potentially commits her to two more seasons of the show and gives her a significant salary increase.
Who else would be returning? That seems to be up in the air since none of the other original Army Wives castmembers have contracts now that season six is over. If Lifetime wants them back, they’ll have to renegotiate salaries and that will presumably drive production costs.
That may explain why so many characters were left in jeopardy in the sixth season finale. If deals can’t be reached, Army Wives could return with several new faces. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
What do you think? Do you think Army Wives will return for a seventh season? If some in the cast don’t return, who would you miss the most? The least?
If I can reach out to just one person who can bring this show back, please, please, please do! This show really has meaning for me and I love it. Oh and if I can ask one more small favor…can you air the new season sooner than later? I appreciate your consideration.
Thank you-
Stacy
I have always been a huge fan of Army Wives. HOWEVER, this show has officially jumped the shark. It probably happened mid-way thru last season. They are piling too many ‘issues’ and tragedies into one episode/season. Seems like EVERYONE has been injured or almost killed except Finn! The writers are stretching it. It’s not as good as it used to be. I understand some of the others connection to this show, however, the core has changed and not just with the cast. They just seem to ramble about. Joan took drugs and had a boyfriend who OD’ed? Seriously? And she… Read more »
I want Army Wives back with the original cast. They can bring everyone back and have another two or three successful seasons.. I just started to like all the new characters and now you are killing everyone off. This will not encourage me to watch other Lifetime series if it ends like this.
This is the only show that we actually make plans to watch each and every week. It is a perfect way to wrap up the weekend and get ready for the new week. Great Show, wonderful storyline with real characters. Please don’t end it this way !
Really??? I have watched since Day 1 and know too many that do, even my son does he loves the Military number one. It’s an Amazing Show and I personally think not to Bring it back is a mistake, if ratings were low and noone watched it, then that would be different. BUTTTT Realllyyyyyyyy???? Lifetime needs to stop and think of the shows that are not family oriented and people enjoy… I for one Vote Yes always..
I sure hope it returns as my hubby and I are supporters. We like it very much. We would sure miss spunky Roxy.
I love Army Wives! I so hope the show returns with a season 7! I like all of the characters including Roxy,
I love watching Army Wives. I have not missed a season and I hope it continues. I loved the ending of season six and keeping the viewers in suspense. This is what makes the show great.
I watch the show every week and would hate to see it end. I miss Pamela and will miss Roxie. I will not miss the part played by Kellie Martin and her friend. They don’t fit with rest of the chacters.
I know in real life that transfers happen and people move on, but this is fiction so we can have the same chacters interacting as long as the ratings stay high. Please don’t take this off the air
i can not believe it sent chills up my spine oh i know it is only tv but
All of the main cast members are awesome. I cannot imagin any of them not being part of the movie. If any0ne would have to leave I would suggest it be the gay couple. They tend to turn my stomach when they appear on a episode. So many of my friends and family are Army Wives devoted fans and faithfully watch every Sunday night. We cannot comprehend why Lifetime would even consider not continuing such a wonderful series. I am a retired Army wife of 23 years and was also a Army brat of 21 years and this movie defines… Read more »
How do we know thAt the call that general Holden received wasn’t about his wife, and perhaps an accident she was in?….and the army jet hit bad weather, but nothing happened. I don’t think even lifetime would take a gamble on season 7 with an entire new cast.
I love this show, it’s a great show, and for the true Army wives it’s important for others to know the battles of being an Army wife its not easy. I know by experience as I was an army wife for 6 years, and battled with deployments, friends transferring, etc. it’s nice there is a a show that army wives can say that show is for us and others to see how we live. I pray they have a season seven I am addicted. I will be disappointed if the show isn’t back.
I’ll miss Roxy & Trevor, but Denise and Joan’s family and story lines are my favorite. Given Claudia Joy’s (Kim Delaney) real life problems she probably wouldn’t be back anyway. If there’s a season seven maybe the writers will have her die of complications from rejecting her new kidney. I can’t stand the roles of General & Jackie Clark. I hope there’s a season 7 and some new characters might add to it.
After the final scene, I felt totally lost, as thought my good friends had all died. I really, really, really hope Army Wives returns — with everyone, including the return of Pamela and Roxy. COME BACK ARMY WIVES!!!
