It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.

I think it’s a real shame it has been cancelled really enjoyed watching it and feel that we need more dramas on the BBC at the weekends like the good old days !
I love the show, its sad that they are not going to renew anymore. If you guys are bot going to renew the show at least sell the full dvd series.
I would be truely happy if the show would be put back on alot of us are disappointed. I believe that this is by far the worst decision ever
Why would you bring out an interesting TV show and decide to cancel without even here what the audience will say? I was, I am and I will continue being pissed off. Just renew it
I am a fan of the legends of Greece, I have a deep appeal of the history of Greece and the Gods. I would love to see more of Atlantis and the ending of a tyrant Queen. At least allow your audience the chance to see if Jason does defeat the Queen, and take his place as King of Atlantis. By the stories I have read and TV shows I’ve seen; the story goes that Atlantis was buried under sea. The TV show allows the audience the imagination as to why the myth comes to be. I personally would enjoy very much a 3rd season since the last episode of the 2nd season promised so much more.
It’s a shame that there be no season 3 for Atlantis. I think it was very well written and and high-quality entertainment. It’s hard to find quality programming these days.

I mis this show more than words can say. I was so saddened when I heard it had been cancelled. The end of series two left the story unfinished with a brief preview at the end promising an exciting continuing journey which sadly was not the case.

I really enjoyed this tv show… I am sad that it’s over and I’m left with no closure 🙁 I just now found it, only to find out it was cancelled after just two seasons! WHY!? Give a show a CHANCE and let it catch on before you cancel! Did you learn nothing from FIREFLY??!??
I really love this video and I really love watching movies in the BBC America, and one of the amazing film was of the Atlantis, but can’t understand why was it stopped in season two… come on…!!! there are a lot of fans who are out there really want it to be continue, especially me…

i don’t see the reason why atlantis cannot go on to the seasons because this movie was amazing with a good story. i think if it’s possible they can play the other next episodes
