Russell Tovey wants back on Banished. The actor recently told Radio Times he’d “love” to revisit the cancelled BBC Two series.
Created by Jimmy McGovern, the historical drama chronicled the founding of the first British penal colony in Australia. Alongside Tovey, the series starred Orla Brady, Ewen Bremner, Ryan Corr, and David Wenham.
Discussing a possible revival, Tovey said he’d absolutely return:
Yes, I’d love it. That was an incredible job. It was an expensive show, you take everyone out to Australia for like 5 months, and I feel like it would’ve been brilliant to do it again. I’m quite sad.”
Though, the actor later mentioned that the window of opportunity for a revival may have passed:
“Hopefully another channel will do it, but I don’t know if the time, the window for that opportunity has passed. Ripper Street happened quite soon after, you know, so…maybe one day.”

Why in the world did you cancel this series? It was superb…even better than Poldark in my opinion. I would hope you would revive it.
Nothing like getting engrossed in a brilliant series only to find its the end of it…..

I read all the comments and I couldn’t agree more to the fact this series should be continued. The cast, the writing and the story are all phenomenal. I watched it over 2 days and couldn’t wait for the next episode.
We loved it and would definitely watch a season 2.

I saw the first season of Banished and enjoyed it very much. I was sooo disappointed to see there wasn’t anymore. It left me yearning to have it continue. Please consider continuing the series. I know friends who feel the same way.

I loved season 1 and was very disappointed to hear season 2 was cancelled. Please reconsider since I read Fatal Shore and anticipated seeing this in a drama through all it’s twists and turns. Such an amazing struggle.
I watched the full season in less than a week. An AMAZING show. I’m so sad I can’t go to the next season. This show was on amazon. I didn’t know the show had been canceled and that I would not be able to go to the next season. I can’t imagine why this show wouldn’t be allowed to continue. I’m a huge Poldark, Victoria, and Downton abbey fan. Banished is just as great as those shows. Big, big mistake in canceling this show.
Please bring it back. Great show.
