Russell Tovey wants back on Banished. The actor recently told Radio Times he’d “love” to revisit the cancelled BBC Two series.
Created by Jimmy McGovern, the historical drama chronicled the founding of the first British penal colony in Australia. Alongside Tovey, the series starred Orla Brady, Ewen Bremner, Ryan Corr, and David Wenham.
Discussing a possible revival, Tovey said he’d absolutely return:
Yes, I’d love it. That was an incredible job. It was an expensive show, you take everyone out to Australia for like 5 months, and I feel like it would’ve been brilliant to do it again. I’m quite sad.”
Though, the actor later mentioned that the window of opportunity for a revival may have passed:
“Hopefully another channel will do it, but I don’t know if the time, the window for that opportunity has passed. Ripper Street happened quite soon after, you know, so…maybe one day.”

I am extremely disappointed Banished is a masterpiece. To end it now is to deprive us. Who ever is responsible should be flogged!!
I was glued to the first 7 episodes, then disappointed to read of its cancelation.
It seems that what I like ends to quickly.
Best show I’ve ever seen ! If I knew there wouldn’t have been a second season I would have never started watching it ! It was like never reading the ending of a book ! I’m incredibly sad this will not continue! Left up in air with ending at all !
I just finished watching the last episode of banished. It got me through a very sleepless night after extensive surgery. I am so deeply disappointed and angered that there will be no more seasons. How can you leave your public that way. You just lost a BB C viewer!
I fear he’s right and we’ve missed our window, but we didn’t get it here until recently. I was hooked from the first minute, and raced through all seven episodes only to learn of the cancellation online. Could Jimmy McGovern at least share with us what he had already written next? Several lives left in question by the cliffhanger! We need closure! I would happily pay any price just for a straight-to-DVD wrap up!

Awwww!! I LOVED this show! I watched it every night on Amazon Prime, then got to the end of season one only to find out there were no more episodes!!! I want to know what happened to all the characters! I’ll never know! PUH-LEASE! Bring this show BACK!
This series needs to continue. I am invested in the characters and so much can happen with the plot in Australia!!
My husband and I just finished episode seven and are stunned to learn this where the series ended. Please do a second season. This was such a good series. This was not a good way to end it either.
I am so sad to learn that there will not be a season two of the show. I loved it. I probably would’ve bought it just to watch the next season! I don’t do that often. Bad form to cancel this!
Banished was great. Great acting, beautiful scenery. It was so different from everything on TV now. I wish they would do a second season but instead of giving the viewers something good & different, they will just continue to give us the same-o-same-o drivel.

Im watching Banished now and love it. Theres nothing worse than getting engrossed in a well done, well acted series only to have it end after one season!
You should try and put together at least 2 more seasons. Doing 3 seasons for each new program is the right way to go. Who has come up with this lets do one season and leave the viewers forever hanging? Thats just wrong.
