It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Battle Creek is a terrific show, & should be renewed, NOT cancelled. It has a great cast, great chemistry, great writers, twists & turns, drama & humor. CBS screwed up by putting a new show in a slot that ended up often starting late due to sports events running over. Cable guide always said it was on, when it wasn’t. So people who DVR missed the last 20 minutes several times. When I sat down to watch it, it took awhile before something scrolled across the bottom of the screen, saying when it would start. This is no way to… Read more »
I too came off the road to find this and Madam Secretary only 3/4 recorded. Then again. Ours are not the numbers that count on any of these shows. Unless you actually watch the recording without zipping through the commercials (Yes…..The DVR actually sends back that info. So if you really want to support a show you have to bare all those damn commercials…..I’m not sure I’m committed to any series that much). Bottom line….If you’re outside of the market group age chances are you’ll find this happening again and again…..Unless you get into some shows that don’t get big… Read more »
I love the show for the reasons stated by all the astute tv watchers. Please keep it on – give it a chance!!
Complicated and interesting characters, good humor, great plots. Loved the show!
Keep this show! It is one of the best now on TV!
I love this show. I should know better than to like a show. It’s the kiss of death.
The characters and all their flaws is what makes it good. Too bad the public didn’t have a chance to see them grow.
I love this show. A great change from the same o same o cop shows.
WHAT ???????? I Love, Love, Love Battle Creek……..
I am so tried of y’all letting us be so glad to have a good, funny show that we love then you take it away. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL!!
Come on people. You take these too personal without looking at the big picture. There’s too much competition for advertising money so you have to hit it over the fence most of the time or you’re out. It’s getting easier all the time to figure which shows won’t last the cut. With that age target they have to not only hit the ground running, but have plenty of good shows to keep them interested…..”Them”…….not “Us”. We are tougher to sell to do our opinion really holds little weight. The real trick is finding something we like that the target group… Read more »
I tune in for VERY few shows, but I tune in for this one. I promise if they keep this show, it will end up doing well. Soon the buzz would get around about how funny the lead guys are together and really the rest of the cast right along with them. It really is a refreshing show, and I must add that the opening song to the show is awesome!! I tune in to hear that song at every episode. Please don’t cancel this show. The fact that I got online and specifically searched to see if this show… Read more »
The Horrible wife curse strikes again. Yet another excellent show is put behind that turkey, and yet another excellent show has met its demise. I am about ready to just give up on CBS, they renew the horrible wife, and cancel this refreshing, funny, outside the box, wonderful show, and keep on trucking with the horrible wife. I just don’t see how anyone watches that show. Oh well, maybe next season after they have yet another great show that they end up cancelling too soon, they will realize that all of them have something in common. The horrible wife, and… Read more »
please don’t cancel this show. the partner cops have a great back-and-forth rapport and the crimes and their resolutions always keep me interested. can’t say that about every show in that genre. at least try one more season and give the production some hype, for crying-out-loud.
This just reveals the lack of wisdom on the part of CBS. It’s a great show… with humor and heart. They should give it time to build an audience. Or try it in a different time slot. If Battle Creek was on cable, it would have been given an opportunity to be discovered. Once again television audiences have been robbed of a wonderful series… and left with other shows that don’t even come close in quality. Did they even notice that Battle Creek had a 95% Fresh Rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes? Maybe a cable network will pick it… Read more »
Battle Creek was getting better each episode! I think it’s so stupid for them to cancel so soon… They need to give it more time. Hopefully somebody else snags it!
Bring it back!
Was only getting better!
If CBS would have actually promoted this one, maybe the numbers would have been higher. It’s a great show with great actors. Very sad to see it go.
Please renew.
We turn off the good wife and then switch back to CBS for this show!! (after watching 60 minutes and Madame Secretary.
Dump the good wife instead.
