It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Every once in a while, a new program comes along that piques my interest. Few of the major broadcast network programs do, but Battle Creek was one of the few. Its cancellation gives me one more reason to stay on cable networks.
Sound like a bunch of dumb ass people at CBS don’t know anything about T.V. shows. Best show on T.V. about normal people! Not a bunch of gay, blacks, or whites, it just about the average type of people, and everyday lives.
But now days this is what happens to normal people, normal lives, in America.
I will now watch any CBS programming. How lame….who the hell does the ratings?? Why didn’t they put this show in a earlier time slot?????
How can they cancel this show now that Det. Agnew and Holly finally got together. Dean Winters is so sexy and his voice is a turn on.
So much better a show than all those reality shows.
Great show with excellent characters. Bring it back!
Just keep putting smut like two broke girls out there and cut good viewing like battle creek…..people will start getting even dumber…and you guys wonder what’s happened to society :/ you people at CBS are bafoons!
CBS finally comes out with a show that is witty, believable, great characters and they cancel it? What idiot made that decision?
We LOVE this show and all the characters!!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T TAKE IT OFF!!
THANK YOU!!!!
A great show. Wonderful actors at all levels. Ingenious scripts with great variations on the cop-buddy plot. Bring it back and back it up!
Really good show, witty, literate… Of course it’s going to be cancelled – it’s not reality TV or low-brow slapstick comedy. Same goes for “Backstrom” and for “Stalker”. All three of these shows were pretty well written and had multi-dimensional characters. …The Nielsen ratings families must be chosen from among Wal-Mart shoppers or something.
So very sad Battle Creek has been cancelled. I love it. It’s so well written and wonderfully executed. I have grown fond of the characters. I understand ratings are important, but honestly CBS didn’t give it a fighting chance. Sunday night at 10 is pretty much the death slot. Anyone not specifically trying to watch it wouldn’t stumble upon it and realize how wonderful a show it was. And top that off with it being delayed when the Basketball playoffs where on. You’re not going to get much viewership. They shouldn’t have pulled the plug so early. Give it another… Read more »
Who the hell are they asking when the rating come out.. the same 7 people .. This is ridiculous, just like Backstrom . They shows are entertaining ..
of course they arent as great as the lame ass 2 Broke Girls that just wont go away and these terrible reality shows..
These show deserve another year..
Who do they ask about viewership? Apparently not anyone I know. The only people who count are those with a Neilsen box or those up to age 49. It is time to abolish ratings. Perhaps it is time to get rid of the executives who make these terrible decisions. They certainly don’t have the viewer in mind.
Good show. We are seniors and love the banter between the group.
I really love this show. Too bad CBS doesn’t appreciate quality programming. It was one of the few good ones left on their network.
The only reason I have started watching regular channel was the show Battle Creek, it is a very good show with funny and a bit of mystery together. Very bad choice to take it off air , and a good way to lose a customer to your channel. When it is off I will no longer be tuning into this chanel
Wow, 5.62 million viewers is not enough! The way they cut off TV Shows is ridiculous. This is a great show, and now after all the character development they are just chopping the head off something great! Sometimes people cannot watch it during airtime and have to DVR it, or even go through other sites to watch it (if they don’t pay for cable/ cannot afford it). I do not think this show should be cancelled, however, CBS is a business and it does not matter if we sign a petition to keep it alive, our opinion does not matter.… Read more »
