It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Finally a well written and scripted show with an intelligent set of characters and it gets cancelled. What a shame that CBS could not see the value in this show. Idiots.
I was disappointed when I heard CBS had cancelled Battle Creek. I found it to be a witty and well-acted show. A breath of fresh air in an otherwise “clone-like” world of network TV. If patience is truly a virtue, the powers that be on CBS are clearly deficient. If there is any chance to reconsider PLEASE DO.
I love this show. The characters and acting are great. Each week has a different slant to it. It’s the time slot that’s killing the ratings. Sunday at 10:00? Needs a weekday at 8:00 p.m. to sustain viewership.
This is a really enjoyable show. Many great actors with really great chemistry. This is what makes for a good series. Also it is not ‘gory’ as many current series are more and more as they continue.

Please don’t cancel, I was just getting into this show and now that I like it and have made a point of watching it they go and cancel it. Ugh!
Finally, something unique and different and it gets cancelled? The show revolved around interesting quirky characters and should have been given an opportunity to grow. In our area, The Good Wife, is always running late and perhaps that resulted in lower numbers since Battle Creek would not start until after the 10:00 time slot, but recording is so used now – TERRIBLE MISTAKE – WHO IS IN CHARGE OF JUST GIVING THE PUBLIC REALITY SHOWS – WE LIVE REALITY – WE LOVED THIS UNIQUE SHOW
This is unbelievable. The show is barely out there and it’s cancelled? The story line is great, the characterws are comical and well developped and weekly mysteries are engaging. Put it in a different time slot and give it a chance!
This show is a lot of fun. It may be a victim of its time slot, coming on 10 PM on Sunday night, the demographic that CBS is looking for is getting ready for work the next day. Please try it again in an earlier time slot.
We’re really really sad! That is one of the best cop shows on TV! As so many of the crime shows get darker and darker and more and more violent, Battle Creek has had enough 1) humor and 2) interesting personalities and relationships to keep it intriguing, but not too intense… SO MANY of the others (which we also watch) raise my heart rate so much I can’t watch them later in the evening. We have loved this show.
Please don’t cancel Battle Creek. It had an awesome cast & was very addictive. Please think about renewing this show for a second season.
Please don’t cancel. My husband and I love it!
Don’t cancel a great show!
The cancellation of this show is very disappointing. I feel the biggest problem that CBS had was the time slot chosen to air the season. It was going up against some big long standing shows with a huge series finale. I record a lot of things I like to watch being able to record 2 shows at a time. Battle Creek took a back seat to two of the other shows not because it wasn’t awesome but because I had invested other time in previous seasons for the other shows. That fact is not a representation of the show at… Read more »
Too Bad! They weren’t given much of chance given the time slot and lack of advertising. Like other posts before mine I regret the loss of a good buddy cop show and abhor the rash of shameless reality shows. But I guess if you don’t have to pay your cast… CBS has very little left to offer.
I’m hopeful they’ll get picked up by a cable network.
Love this show !! Writing was great and chemistry among characters was dynamic. Please bring it back
