It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I cannot believe you are canceling Battle Creek. This was one of the best new shows. The cases they worked on and the interactions between the characters are the best. Please reconsider renewing the show you will make a lot of viewers very happy!!!!
What is CBS thinking??? This show absolutely deserves a chance! It uniquely provides character-driven episodes with enough action to portray life in a mid-west American city with plenty of interest in the people we’re beginning to know. Relationships matter in this cleverly written series – it’s not just another recounting of grisly murder and mayhem (!) each week. This gem should be given its due.. at least another full season to fully develop these characters whom we’re more than beginning to care about. If not CBS, then a smarter network which can recognize quality!!!
I am so disappointed to see that this series will not be renewed. The chemistry between the characters was awesome, good story lines, and even some comedy in the mixture. What a shame….I thought it was a keeper!
Love this show. Watch very little TV but didn’t miss this one.
I really enjoy watching this show. Never miss an episode. Please don’t cancel it. Nice watching a show for a change with no foul language which is rare these days.
Loved this show …. Not only was it awesome now but saw tons of potential …. Please bring it back !!!!
Bring it back! So sick of all the reality shows!
I really like Battle Creek! Finally something good to watch, it was just getting really good too.
Love Battle Creek!! Bring it back
NO WAY!!!!!! This Show is a MOST FAVORITE of both my husband and myself!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE it! CBS has made a Crucial Mistake by pulling this Show. We just PRAY that another Network picks it up AND RUNS WITH IT I would Enjoy it Immensely when BATTLE CREEK Racks in the Emmys…ON ANOTHER NETWORK! Anyone know whom or where we could contact to Voice our OBSESSION with this Amazing Series of Talented Actors and their Incredible Comedic Timing that meshes so Brilliantly with a Good Wholesome Story Line?
Why do networks kill off good series? This was a pretty decent show. Very unhappy about this cancellation 🙁
give this show the chance it deserves! It was the best and quirkiest new show of the season. The acting is terrific, the characters are engaging, and the plots are unusual and clever. How does a network dump this cast? I mean, come on!!! This is a worthwhile show. My husband and I aren’t in the 18-49 demographic and are usually fans of British TV shows, but this one is really good. Give it a chance, please!
This was a fun show. Sucks it was canceled.
I am really sad too see CBS has cancelled Battle Creek. It was very original and like a odd couple in the law enforcement genre. Not all shows have to be a 10 to be good. It was very witty and the cast was a wonderful mix of everyday people. All taking their jobs seriously but individually have quirks
Refreshing new show with great story line. Worthy of one more season.
This is a good show. It was really starting to Jell.
