It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I really liked this show. I am very upset that it has been cancelled. It was on too late for me to watch in its time slot. I had to tape it to watch it. I never missed an episode.
This show got better with each episode. How am I to know whether Milt lives!!!
I hope it returns for another season. I agree with the comment that most sit-coms are just horrible. This show was good.
You put a new show on Sunday night at 10pm and you wonder why it dies??? I am a Michigan resident so of course I want to watch it, but it was a good show in its own merit. People just forget to watch the 10pm time slot or they start watching a movie and forget to turn the channel. Or Monday is going to be busy or they are exhausted from the weekend. Put the show between the 2 NCISs on Tuesday and then see how the ratings react! Also, I can’t stand “The Good Wife” so I’m frequently… Read more »
I love this show very entertaining funny witty delightful to watch it’s a shame you take something good off the TV please bring back for second season
I cannot believe CBS is canceling Battle Creek especially in light of some of the other shows they renewed. Its a well acted, well scripted show that I really enjoyed watching. With cancelations like this no wonder more people are watching cable channels vs major networks.
I am so glad I’m not the only one bummed that this show is cancelled. But of course when a show is witty, has great characters, and creative, I guess that’s the only thing to do!PLEASE RE-CONSIDER OR ANOTHER NETWORK PICK IT UP!
another show I invest in and it gets cancelled. I really enjoyed the show, all of the characters, the story line, and the potential for the story line to go to so many other directions. Shame on you CBS, be a little patient!
Here we go again! A funny quirky show that just got better as you saw the characters develop and CBS cancels it. Give it a chance. CBS has lost me for Sunday nights.
I agree!!
I started watching this show because it was based in Michigan. I have really grown to love the characters and plot lines. I am so sad that it wasn’t renewed.
I agree with the others here who are disgusted with CBS canceling “Battle Creek.” They put it in a terrible time slot for a new show and then they wonder why they aren’t getting their precious 18-49 viewers. Sunday night is when all the premium cable channels and PBS put on their big time dramas. Putting an untried show at that time is just plain stupid.
I hope one of the channels such as A&E or TNT will pick up this show. I’m really disappointed that it’s been canceled.
I’m disgusted with CBS! I agree Ann.
Sunday night is also the night all the new HBO series come out. Yeah, put them against Game of thrones and Silicon Valley….with the xfinity off of HBO everywhere that’s yet another reason it didnt get as many viewers.
This was a very good, interesting show. Maybe the village idiots at CBS didn’t watch when it got pushed back to a later start so many times.
I hate when I try a new show, and it takes me a few episodes before I decide I like it, then when I decide I do, they cancel it. Firefly, New Amsterdam, Vegas, now Battle Creek. I liked Dean Winters a lot, and I have always been a Josh Duhamel fan. I’m sure glad the executives of my other favorite shows gave it more of a chance (NCIS & Castle).
Battle Creek was awesome, we don’t want it to go!
Some network, any network, please pick up this show. While we are flooded with inane reality shows and formula series along came this quirkly well-written show and it gets cancelled? Who is deciding this? Please hire some new “tv show watchers” if this type of show gets cancelled. The Good Wife is always running late and causing Battle Creek to then come on even later – ever think of that??? BAD DECISION
It’s being decided by 15-25 year-olds.
Really enjoyed this show. Done with cbs.
Once again, the networks capitulate to the viewers of the stupidest, most inane shows, while cancelling quality well-acted creative shows like Battle Creek. What a Shame! Please, some other network pick it up!
