It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Its very disappointing that this show is to be cancelled. It has become one of my favorite shows. The plots are always good and the relationship among the characters is very well developed. It reminds me on NYPD during the early days. I think it deserves a better time slot and a second chance.
Battle Creek was worth watching cancel those stupid talk shows. I guess I’m done with CBS!
M husband and I really enjoy Battle Creek and we ask that you reconsider your decision to cancel. Give it a new timeslot and/or a new day. Thank you.
A really good show canceled; what’s wrong with TV execs?
I think this is a great show that wasn’t given time to find it’s audience. It’s typical for CBS to cancel rather than give things a chance. It’s very disappointing as the relationship between the two main characters was just getting going. Also, if it’s over, why did they leave it with a great big questionmark?
I totally agree with Michele. How can the best show be canceled?! Give it a chance with another season. Me and ALL my co-workers agree that we need to have this show back. How can a network keep shows like Two Broke Girls or Mom, and cancel this show?? We’d gladly sign anything to get this show back on the air!!!!
Scroll through some of the other people’s replies. There is a petition being signed AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, a link to a direct CBS website that allows you to voice your opinions to keep it on the air. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the link and respond!
My husband and I are devoted Battle Creek fans, we love this show and can’t believe it is canceled! The relationship between all the characters is wonderful! Please don’t cancel it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This show was developing great characters. It had great potential. Please bring it back!!!
I really, really like this show! I wish they would not cancel!
Battle Creek had a fabulous group of characters, but it was probably too subtle and the humor too sly for the typical TV viewer. Personally, I was hooked and watched each episode twice (or more) to pick up on everything. I, too, watch very little TV, but Battle Creek was worth my time.
I’m extremely sad that this was canceled. This was a great show! Comedy, action, suspense, romance, this show has it all!! I’m guessing the ratings were bad mainly because of it’s time slot. Sunday night at 10:00 is not a good time for any channel. I hope someone decides to give this one a chance with a better day and time.
Battle Creek was a great show. The characters and actors who played them made it hard to wait for the next show. Please reconsider bringing it back.
Absolutely LOVE this show!!! So disappointed that it has been cancelled! Somebody pick it up! Maybe bad ratings cause it’s on so late on a Sunday? I always record it to watch later the next morning!
I loved this show, Love the characters. Please give it another chance.
CANCELLED!!! I don’t believe it. This is one of the best shows on TV. I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV but I make sure to make time to watch “Battle Creek”. The characters are complex as most lives are. They take the time to develop the character and let you know, little by little who these people really are. There are some shows that punch you in the mouth with details of all the characters on the first episode. Not this one. It lets you get to know these characters week by week, just as you… Read more »
