It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Eighteen to 49 age group ism t the only demographic.
We are sick of pandering to this age group, an age that doesn’t even watch ads .
They record and scroll past ads when they do watch the recorded show.
At the very least don’t cancel some of the excellent programs of late and have
series’ available via streaming.
I agree as well, great show…I had to dvr most of the episodes due to the late time slot… I truly wish they would bring it back
god, I’m tired of networks cancelling really great shows. It just sucks and I’m sure whatever replaces is it will be completely stupid and get great ratings. It totally sucks. Hey CBS why not back a good show that not everybody watches
I love this show
We loved this show …. Funny, good performances, good writing. Why did they slot this in bad spot, not good marketing, then cancel it way too soon! Anything we can do to bring it back?
Disappointed that they canceled, one of my favorite new shows. I thought the show got better throughout the season. CBS didn’t promote it well enough. Maybe a cable channel will pick it up.
My husband and I really enjoyed Battle Creek. The crime plots weren’t great, but the character studies were. Loved the acting in general and the interplay between the two main characters. Very sorry to hear it was cancelled.
We can’t believe this witty and well written show has been cancelled so quickly. The chemistry between the actors was excellent. Very few shows can deliver good drama with well timed comedy.
We hope this drama will be given another chance in a better time slot.
Loved it … you jerks! You all put on these worthless shows like Grimm and Hannibal etc. and yet cancel the feel-good, great story line shows. UNBELIEVABLE!!
My wife and I will miss Battle Creek as it was one of our favorite shows. Can’t imagine what else people were watching in that time slot. Disappointing decision by CBS.
I loved this show!
My husband and I both really enjoyed Battle Creek. We have watched it the entire season mostly on DVR. I think the acting is good and the story line even better. The last episode on May 24th was really a great finale.
Disppointed, as well, to her of the cancellation. Do our posts make any difference in its possible re-airing? Fell in love with the cast and it is so well written! Great acting.
Bring it back! We loved it!
I agree with the many previous comments that Battle Creek was a unique, well written show, with multi-faceted characters and creative storylines. . CBS chose to place it in one of the worst time slots of the week without much advertising or hype. Some shows seem to get placed in different time slots (I believe,) in an effort to “boost” their ratings. Why didn’t Battle Creek get moved to a more popular time slot (temporarily?) It would have built up a larger audience that would have followed it to wherever it “landed”. Shame on CBS for “pulling the plug” on… Read more »
