Beowulf shall return to the Shieldlands, no more. C21 Media reports ITV has cancelled its Beowulf TV series after the first season. The news that Beowulf would get the axe, first broke in February.
In the US, Beowulf airs on Esquire. A fantasy drama, based on the Old English epic poem, the series stars Kieran Bew in the title role. William Hurt, Joanne Whalley, and Ed Speleers also star.

ITV had high hopes for the £17m (US$23m) adaptation of the epic poem but the programme ultimately failed to achieve high viewing figures.
An ITV spokeswoman told C21 this morning: “ITV regularly refreshes its drama portfolio and consequently Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”

I am so VERY disappointed! BEOWULF gave my fiancé and i something to look forward too! Who in the Heck decides these things…they need their heads examined…not a personal attack just one of the most disappointing things I have heard! BRING BEOWULF back please please please!

Definitely a good series please bring it back, no one like merlin much till 2nd series, I personally love Beowulf so do my daughters please bring it back

Awesome series well done, can’t explain why they would shut it down, hoping it returns had friends enjoying it as well.
Very disappointing I really liked the series. I watched it on-demand so it really didn’t matter what time it was aired. As I learned from AMC, the original creators of the series Longmire, I am in the wrong demographic group to voice an opinion about what TV shows I like–even when the show is successful.
What the hell it should come back!!
It is so sad to see this show canceled only after one season. I hope another Network picks this show up because it was a really really great show with great storylines and the whole shebang. Netflix please do all us fans a favor and pick this show up for a second third fourth and fifth seasons and so on. That’s how good the show is.
This is sad news . We loved this weird but fascinating story . No more Mudborn , lots of for Milyer faces from other programs like da Vinci’s demons and many other shows very sorry to see that it won’t be on was really looking forward to it ! By Beowulf

Why to all the good series get cancelled. So fed up of really enjoying a series and then I find out the channel hasn’t renewed it. I may start to boycott these particular channels.
I never understand why any TV channel cancels a series after just 1 season. It needs time to mature and for word to get out about how good it is. Beowulf, had good actors, excellent locations and a sound story-line but it was hardly advertised compare to other series and was not aired at a good time for this type of programme. Shame on you ITV.
