Beowulf shall return to the Shieldlands, no more. C21 Media reports ITV has cancelled its Beowulf TV series after the first season. The news that Beowulf would get the axe, first broke in February.
In the US, Beowulf airs on Esquire. A fantasy drama, based on the Old English epic poem, the series stars Kieran Bew in the title role. William Hurt, Joanne Whalley, and Ed Speleers also star.

ITV had high hopes for the £17m (US$23m) adaptation of the epic poem but the programme ultimately failed to achieve high viewing figures.
An ITV spokeswoman told C21 this morning: “ITV regularly refreshes its drama portfolio and consequently Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”

It was like a low budget rip off of Game of Thrones. Obvious from the opening music score and graphics.
Beowulf shouldn’t have been canceled. It was one of my favorite shows, and I don’t get into a whole lot of shows on TV. I loved the actors, and their portrayals of the characters from the epic poem. Its very disappointing to have this show cancelled, cause now we are stuck with this other crap people call good tv shows.
Bring it back, it’s exciting, has drama, action, fantasy.

Too bad. Finally a show that my daughter can watch with me. The shows that lack blood, guts, and embarrasing sex scenes never seem to get good reviews.
Please please please find a way for a second season. It was great.
Beowulf was one of the better shows on TV. It deserved a second season. Please reconsider.
Please bring this back! I love the characters and the story line. Absolutely one of my favorites.
I would have liked to see a Second Season to wrap up the Grendel/Mother characters with the story line in the series and epic poem.
This show ‘Beowulf’ is amazing, i just finished the Season 1 Finale, and loved it. There are others that loved it as well. Bring it back please.
To be sure, ITV wanted something like Game of Thrones, hence the opening of an episode and music, but this is not a knockoff. It is one of the few series that a binged watching. So, I imagine that a lot criticised the show because it was not GOT; just like Apple people slam any computer that is not from Apple. So, bring it back.

Please don’t cancel the show. I’m on the last episode of season 1. I’ll be left hanging. I love all the characters, the plot, the actors&actresses. These people giving bad reviews are comparing the show to others.
