Amazon has renewed their political comedy Alpha House for a second season but the Betas series won’t be coming back. The Silicon Valley-based TV show has been cancelled.
Of the decision, Amazon Studios director Roy Price said, “Unfortunately you have to make tough decisions… I’d love to figure out something else for Betas.”
Betas follows four friends who are trying to strike it rich by finding investors for their new dating app. The cast includes Joe Dinicol, Karan Soni, Jon Daly, Charlie Saxton, Maya Erskine, Madeline Zima, Tyson Ritter, Breeda Wool, Mark L. Young, and Ed Begley, Jr.
A pilot and 10 episodes of the series were produced. The pilot was released on April 19, 2013 and the final episode was made available on January 17, 2014.
What do you think? Did you like the Betas TV show? Would you have watched season two?
I just finished watching it (i know, years behind) was sooooo utterly disappointed that there was no season 2… a kinda Mr robot/big bang theory style that was relevant, current and appealing. Bad move.
Wanting more!!! Bring Betas back…please 😉
What a great 1st season of the Betas. Left me wanting more. Same with the Kicks, but I just saw finally episode 2 released last week. Come on, Amazon, season 2 of Betas, please!
This show is / was / will be awesome. WHY DID YOU CANCEL IT? It was well on it’s way to being Amazon’s “The Big Bang Theory”, the characters were relatable and the show had a lot of room to grow. As a fellow nerd, I totally felt Mitchell’s pain as he tried to convey his feelings for Mikki and yet in the last episode you totally see that she wants him but you leave us hanging with no season 2? WTF, why would you do that? Couldn’t you have sold the rights to one of the other networks or… Read more »
We really liked this show. I feel that it still has room to grow. So sad it was cut short!!!
witty, cunning, and great actor choice. the show will be missed dearly!
I love Betas. It’s a great and frankly, one of the very few good ones Amazon makes. Sure they’ve got Alpha House and maybe a couple of others. But they fucked up Man in the High Castle, everyone who watched it said the same thing “great premise, poor execution” then they find out it was a book beforehand. Netflix, to be honest, are killing Amazon in the war of original shows. Betas may be seen as a cult show but do you know why? I’ve never seen it promoted, anywhere. It’s almost impossible to find on it’s own site. If… Read more »
Betas is an awesome show! A real bummer that it was cancelled. These networks never give a show enough time to develop and acquire a fan base. It’s really frustrating.
Absolutely! amazing show! Very relatable show!
Yep, I love the show – thank goodness season two and three are on Now TV. Prime messed up deciding not to show this any more, their lose!
Man you can’t just straight up lie like that. Season 2 and 3 aren’t on NowTV.
I love this show!!! Bring it back for a second season. It’s funny, the characters are easy to connect with, and you just root for BRB the whole time! I wanna see more!
It was a great show. Loved character development and relationships. I was about to watch season 2 when I realized there wasnt one. So yes I would have loved to see what happened with brb and everyone in the show. If amazon wasnt going to produce another season then brb should have sold the rights for something like 50 million after giving that zack casper guy a heap load of **** like they did. But it still ended quite nicely. BRING IT BACK!
Why cancel a perfectly good show ? Oh wait maybe it didn’t have enough killing and blood sucking in it… Look at IT crowd it’s a classic and Silicon Valley and Big Bang…. Fools Amazon real fools
Idiots this is exactly why I wouldn’t purchase Amazon
I came to this show quite late – only started watching it a couple of weeks ago – but got hooked immediately. Very sad it never got picked up for a second season. Suspect that time wasn’t right back in 2014…and the tv execs thought something as ‘soft’ as Betas (kooky, wisecracking, but with a heart) wouldn’t have legs against tougher stuff and the trend towards lots of blood/death (Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, True Detective….). I like all of the three death/blood series (including second series of True detective..) – but sometimes you need the lighter stuff. Thats the… Read more »
