ABC continues their search to find a new hit family sitcom for Wednesday nights. So many have failed and been cancelled. Will Black-ish be the next to go or will it be a success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Black-ish, patriarch Dre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) begins to wonder if his success has caused him and his family to lose touch with their roots. The rest of the family is played by Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Laurence Fishburne.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Black-ish for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.10 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Black-ish TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The tv show blackish would be okay if they changed the actress who plays the mother and the actor who plays the son. The mom is just super annoying and the boy can’t act. Sorry for the harsh criticism but it’s the truth.
One more thing, @ yankeegal “the show is so against white people” really it offends you that much? Well, How do you think it makes middle eastern people feel when Hollywood continues to cast white ppl to depict the major characters in the Bible, but all the slaves are black or of darker complexion?Given the region and time period in which biblical stories are set, figures such as Jesus and Noah, I can assure you they weren’t white. So you see, you really don’t have much to complain about.
This show has great writing. The characters are fun, the parents are great, the kids are great, with a great supporting cast and the subject matter is relevant. I love the topics like “the nod”, “the talk”, and “privileged children” because while some of it is specific to being black, it is mostly stuff that we parents deal with everyday trying to do our best to raise our kids, relate to them, and keep them engaged. They touch on the generation gaps in hilarious ways. It is refreshing and it is one of my 2 must see shows every week.… Read more »
I LOVE THIS SHOW! I think the show is written well, has great actors, and is just purely hilarious! I laugh from beginning to end. I don’t the show is “too black”. For many black Americans like myself, the situations that occur on the show happen in real life. The show is ultimately a funny family show. I hope they bring it back for many more seasons to come, it’s already one of my favorites!
Blackish is great!
I love this show!! It’s funny and cute.. I am so tired of watching shows with so much evil with the killings, stalking and over sex, it’s just too much!!…I look forward to watching the show Blackish weekly.. Great job ABC!!
I love this show! The mom and dad crack me up — the are great together, omg the looks on the mom’s face are hilarious. The kids are great too. Ruby and pops would blow it up. Love the smart, detailed depiction of family life with a fresh and silly spin. I wish this show all the best!
Tried giving this show a chance since it follows the 3 funniest shows currently on tv. But I can’t watch more than a few minutes. Every topic and every joke of every episode is about being black. It get’s old, quick.
This show is great! It was already a good show but the additional of Jenifer Lewis takes it over the top!
I can’t wait for Ruby & Pops to interact! Please make it sooner rather than later.
This has nothing to do with BLACKish …But why does Shandra writer of Scandel, & How to murder..etc….etc.. have to have gays , being so sexual with nudity and kissing like animals. It runes the show. Yes, I know they love too, but keep it private. What is she trying to prove? the shows will be top rated without it. We like the story not the unnecessary “SEX”
Yankeegal52 said it well, I watched it 3 times. The first was ridiculous, the second (father opens bathroom door
I was hoping this was going to be funny. Don’t like that the writers make the mother look like dumm. Can’t watch any more.
This show stinks. Anthony Anderson is a funny man, but can’t be a funny man in this show. It is also as if they are mocking Bernie Mac’s old show. Anderson and Fishburne are toooo great actors to be on a show like this. I want to see Anderson in HIS OWN SHOW. Let him be himself as I said about the show “Partners” with Martin Lawrence. What is this, the season for funny guys to not be funny?
I expected more from this show. I was hoping it would be more like The Jeffersons, but that expectation was shot down in the first episode. Nevertheless, the first episode was acceptable. By the third episode I was starting to have doubts, but the fifth episode was the last straw. The mother, who is supposed to be a doctor, is a whack job. The way she goes cuckoo-for-cocoa puffs at times really plays to the stereotypical on-screen Black of the 1920s & 1930s. Makes it hard to believe she is a highly educated woman. I also find the show panders… Read more »
Seriously? You’re going to compare The Jeffersons, and say that Blackish encourages racism? I don’t know what you’re watching, but I don’t see it. Yankeegal52….why would you want to see a show like the Jeffersons in 2014? I loved The Jeffersons way back when it was just nice to have a “black” sitcom. However, times have changed and I think the show is great. Plus, I think the mother’s character is fine. She doesn’t have to be boring because she is a doctor.
Glad the show was renewed. Would like some gay/gay friendly shows. The show could do a great job educating and correcting a lot of misinformation about the gay community.
No character on the show is gay, so I’m not sure where you get that from….
Jason said that he would like to SEE a gay character on the show, so I think he realizes that there aren’t any gay characters on the show at this time. I understand now why you don’t get the show, but you can always watch The Jeffersons!
Yankeegal52 – Please Re-Read the comment that you slammed someone on again. He did “NOT” say that there was a “gay” character on Black-ish…he said that he would LIKE TO SEE IN THE FUTURE – a gay character interacting on the show either in a main or supporting role and show how tolerance is perceived concerning gay people with regards to the black community as a whole. Plus, it’s so terribly obvious that you yourself are racist. You obviously are not black, nor am I, but I have many black friends and have for 30+ years. At this point in… Read more »
@ Boltz,I love you. Honestly, I wish there were more of you. I wish you were the majority actually. I’m glad you don’t see color. The problem for some people about the show is that it touches on reality. They hate to be reminded of things that go on in our society. Unfortunately, our society is corrupted, so it is what it is. Don’t be mad at the writers, be mad at society. Your not helping it by not wanting to acknowledge it. The title of the show alone gives you an idea about the concept of the show. What did… Read more »
