ABC continues their search to find a new hit family sitcom for Wednesday nights. So many have failed and been cancelled. Will Black-ish be the next to go or will it be a success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Black-ish, patriarch Dre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) begins to wonder if his success has caused him and his family to lose touch with their roots. The rest of the family is played by Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Laurence Fishburne.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Black-ish for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.10 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Black-ish TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love this show! It’s satire people- just relax
and enjoy it! Good writing; good acting!
The episode where Dre’s wife thinks she’s
pregnant is very funny! Andersen and Ross
are great together, and the kids are good too- especially the little girl. Good show!
Cancel….cancel…cancel this worthless stuipt show……dont the writters read any of these
comments????shame on you, you will write anything for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I guess it’s called “Black-ish” for a reason. It’s for that segment the writers and producers write all the White and Republicans jokes, and whatnot. They wouldn’t appreciate funny at the
expense of Brobama.
I don’t see anything wrong with the show. The show is basically about a family and their beliefs, if you don’t believe the same as they do, don’t call it racism, call it difference. The same way youre free to post your comments here is the same way they can be free to fight for wjat they believe. Theres no racism here. This show also is like my hobby if i mist say so please y’all shouldnt ruin it for me. Im begging. Also i love the little boy and mama rainbow and mama ruby. This show is awesome and I… Read more »
Wow. Sanford and Son would have caused a riot today. I am Black, yet I do not care for the show. It has nothing to do with any political reasons. I just don’t think it’s that funny. Modern Family has gotten away with a lot of political and racial satire, so I acknowledge the double standard felt here. But when it comes down to it, Blackish just can’t keep my attention…it’s not hilarious…it’s just hit or miss comedy.
PhilC Thanks for telling it as it is, wake up you people & reread this statement again
and again…The show is RACIST……….
Thanks for your comment Mary.
I still think this blog is the wrong forum for political statements but….. in my opinion and just as you and everyone else you are entitled to freedom of speech, I don’t see them lynching, beating, shooting humans in the back ….oh wait that’s the REAL world news.
Words don’t kill…..
This is the funniest show. My hubby has been watching this and suggested I give it a try.
The entire cast is adorable. Rainbow is so like my granny use to be. Always liked Mr. Fishburn. All the kids fit into the family really well and I like the little girl who is so adorable and smart. Mr. Anderson and the actress who plays his mom are a hoot. The entire cast is awesome.
Really hope this show last it is so refreshing no hair pulling, table flipping and women degrading themselves for their 10 mins of fame.
What gives them the right to be a racist in the other direction towards white republicans?
mbell, a response to your post is this….
The same rights that you have to post the statement you made that’s what gives them the right…freedom of speech….
Come on, save your political views and comments for a venue where it can be addressed correctly with constructive outcomes. Stop trying to stir the pot and just enjoy (or not) the TV show. You can always change the channel.
satire……..making fun more of tbeir own bias than republicans……..why is everyone so offended all the time ……….you’re killing humor and satire
I have enjoyed a lot about this show until the writers or whomever decided to come up with the stupid political attack on Republicans. It got so insulting and ignorant when the negative cracks started flying about Reagon, Chaney etc and NOT a word about Obamas many lies, golf trips, 43 million on food stamps etc. that for the first time watching I decided to quit watching it. If it was meant to be true they might have mentioned MLK was a Republican as was Lincoln. This isn’t funny political poking, it is a direct attack on the half of… Read more »
I agree with you Steve. I enjoyed this show until the attack on Republicans episode. I won’t watch it again. I would feel different if they made fun of both sides, but it was a direct attack on Republicans.
Thanks, Kim and Steve. What is wrong with these writers on Black-biases…Give them an inch and they run with every racist remark, and now its about the Republicans…..
Take the show OFF…………………
Now that seems racist… Give them a inch???? Them as in blacks…lol if you don’t like the show than change your channel. Blacks have watched all white sitcoms for years… so kick rocks
I had looked forward to watching this show every week. After this week’s episode in which the family kept putting down Republicans, I am done watching it. Not every Black person is a Democrat and they way they described Republicans was very inaccurate. This was all about brainwashing…this is America and not a communist country, folks!
I a white male. This show is very funny, and I look forward in watching it.
BUT, if the show was called White-ish and the characters just made fun of black people there would be an UPROAR. There are good and bad in every color. This whole racism thing is getting crazy with no end in sight. I don’t care your color of your skin, just be a good provider, pay your taxes, and love one another. GOD BLESS.
Cancel this biased closed-minded show. It objectified women this last episode. Very sexist message, very anti-woman, very offensive.
Thank you who ever you are for your comment. Again I watched the show because the morons keep saying how funny it was. Well! Last night 5-13. The father is a disgusting racist. All he talks about is being black, black this, black that. REFUSED giving his son school lunch because he thought he liked a white Republican girl, turns out she is black. Who is the real MORAN that writes the script. It sickens me….enough of hearing BLACK this and BLACK that…get off your dame band wagons all of you…”WE” are tired of the pity party.
5-13 show….is that mother who is suppose to be a DOCTOR, really that stupid???? she did not understand what the stupid husband was trying to tell her, that their son liked a girl who is a Republican, a what? what does that mean? Republican Doctor!!, Republican.!!….Why are all you brilliant blacks ONLY Democrat’s????REALLY?????????????
Let vote for Hillary now……ha ha
I despise this attempt at comedy. Fouulof ridiculous stereotypes and racist dialogues. With the current state of our Nations racial issues I believe this show does not belong on the air. If it was reversed racially, the show would never have been put on the air!
Well… there is “Fresh Off the Boat” which is a similar type of comedy, so there goes the validity of your “If it was reversed racially, the show would never have been put on the air!” statement.
Fresh Off the Boat is not about a racist white family making fun of blacks which is what WP was implying so there goes the validity of your ” Well… there is “Fresh Off the Boat”
Black-ish is my favorite family comedy sitcom in years! Keep it going!
please cancel; is not funny. only receive political messages it seems to be a “comedy” for a certain race. absolutely not funny
Thanks Joan, The most racist show on T.V…….that father is a real Jackass.
The producers & writers need to wake up and realize its the worst show ever
I mean most white tv shows are like this, this is why the show was created. I identify with the characters on black-ish because I am black. You might identify with Full House. Sorry but not all households are ran that way.
Please don’t cancel. Love the show, I’m a black male with a white wife and we have a 13 year old son. We all watch it together, it has a modern Cosby feel; which is great for all people to see that blacks can work and raise a family together like normal. I come from a 2-parent home; my parents, brother and I all have college degrees and live the American dream, its very possible. This show reinforces that and has great fun at the same time for all races and nationalities; they are a great dynamic, diverse family, with… Read more »
I love this show. Makes my whole family laugh(and we are white). I do not find it racist at all, it’s hysterical. My husband even looks forward to it, and he never watches sitcoms. Funny for all, please don’t cancel. I have no idea who they follow to rate these show, but I’m tired of all kinds of good shows that I watch being cancelled. Fresh and well made.
SRE, I feel the same way about who decides to cancels the good shows, because things have changed from the times of , ‘I Love Lucy!’ People are more accepting of others & others don’t mind laughing about themselves, ‘In Living Color’ was proof of this issue. THINGS HAVE CHANGE TV EXEC’s! Do the right thing & ASK US, THE AUDIENCE FIRST BEFORE CANCELLING A SITCOM! Yes, I saying it loud in hopes you all will hear what is said.
