Positive thinking certainly didn’t help NBC’s new reality series, Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, in the ratings. The TV show’s been pulled after just two episodes.
In Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, self-help master Tony Robbins seeks to help ordinary people overcome big challenges so that they can begin living their lives to their true potential.
The first episode of Breakthrough got off to a very poor start with a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and only 3.12 million viewers. That put the debut in fourth place in both areas.
This week’s installment attracted about the same in the demo but total viewership fell to 2.76 million viewers. How low could the ratings go?

We won’t get to find out. NBC has pulled Breakthrough effective immediately. They’ve replaced it with repeats of Minute to Win It for the foreseeable future.
This leaves four episodes of Breakthrough on the shelf, unaired. The network hasn’t made any indication that they’ll burn off the remaining installments. There is no way that NBC will be ordering any more episodes and the show’s been confirmed as cancelled.
What do you think? Did you like Breakthrough with Tony Robbins? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed in attracting more viewers?

We “loved” Tony’s show! We learned, cried and were encouraged when we watched the two episodes and were excited and looked forward to more episodes. We were surprised and are very very disappointed that the show was pulled! NBC, please bring the show back!
We love Tony Robbins. I wonder if there were so error with the rating system!
Tony, thank you for all you do and did in peoples lives. God Bless!!!!!
I’m very disappointed ! Sadly we live in a world spiraled around turmoil with no intervention . Shows such as Big Brother and Jersey shore perfect examples of shows we all watch with no positive outcome . Viewers, I presume would prefer watching a train wreck .
I would love to see more positive shows like this . Everyone needs to watch !!
Bring Breakthrough back
Two and a Half Men, one of the most popular shows every season AND its re-runs, has brought relaxed one-line humor to the audience – for many years. Viewers like its wit — and lessons learned. Charlie Harper/Sheen, however, OFF SET, is far from relaxed. Bet he can use Tony Robbins right now. Haven’t seen the last three TR shows, but have a feeling one of them deals with anger management and/or drug abuse. During these stressed times, and bad economy, TR show, given a chance by advertising it, will take off with high ratings. (I learned about it from… Read more »
I rarely watch TV because there is so little worth watching. Thanks to Pat Parelli, I was notified of this series. For the past three weeks, I have planned my week to be able to watch Breakthrough. I am actively using the associated website to create my own breakthrough. Needless to say I am very disappointed that once again network TV made the wrong decision. I hope there will be another way to see the remaining episodes and continue the personal breakthrough option. Regardless it has already been a great help to me and I am known to be a… Read more »
Huge Mistake. It was shaping up to be a great show
I didn’t know about Tony’s show until someone told me about it the day prior to it airing… So if I didn’t know about it, how many other average Americans didn’t as well?
Sounds like that is some major bad marketing on NBC’s behalf!
The really sad thing is that they gave us repeats of a mindless game show to fill the time…
Guess that makes me happy to write another check to my cable company, so I can watch something other than NBC tonight.
Bring back Breakthrough, please!
I, like others just stumbled upon the show last week. I loved it and was looking forward to the next episode this week. This is a great program and really needed some advance advertising. How disappointing to cancel something worthwhile in a sea of TV’s vast wasteland. NBC has never been too bright about their programming…let’s hope a cable channel picks up this quality show.
I was so looking forward to the episode tonight! I was shocked to learn it had been pulled by NBC. I have been sharing the opportunity to watch it with everyone I know! Tony is an awesome individual who is making such an incredible difference in the lives of so many. NBC, bring Tony back!
We finaly got back into watching TV on tues nights with this show and can not believe it is gone. turning the TV back off.
I made sure I was home by 8:00 to see the next Breakthrough show. I am so dissappointed that it was canceled. This is a show that is so needed in this upside down world. I pray that NBC will reconsider and show the other shows in the fall.
I thought the show was wonderful!! I would not of even know it was on it someone hadn’t came acrossed it on T.V. I watched both shows and started telling people how great it was. I tivoed it and had people over to watch it. I watched them three times sharing them with friends. I am sorry it was taken off the air. Put it back on please, America needs hope… Jeanette Young
This show got very little advance announcement — viewers did not know about it! By the time we hear about it and get set to finally watch a good show – you cancel it. Tell me how it is better to have more stupid game shows, or teen and tween air-head shows, than Tony Robbins show. Because it might that force people to think, be supportive and caring? People see reality of today’s tough world. The mindset of a few people today, is living in the fast lane until exhausted, they ignore taking care of body and soul, or even… Read more »
TONY,
I am so sorry to hear the show was canceled! I for one loved it! It is evident that now is the time for someone as powerful as yourself to utilize your skills to start your own positive channel on TV. Just do it please! There are so many shows trying to do something to help others but nothing fulltime. I feel that a 24/7 positive thinking channel is needed. You are the one who could lead the charge or at co-charge if need be. Think about it.
Respectfully,Kris Witzig
Was all set to watch tonight’s episode and thought I had gotten the time wrong. I then got that sinking feeling “Oh no, not again.” Whenever I really like something, it always seems to be the first thing pulled. Apart from the fact that they gave the show no time to build an audience, I wish the networks would get over the idea that every show has to be a mega-hit. Surely there must be some room for other quality shows that appeal to a smaller audience. The 18-34 year olds can’t be everywhere at once.
I was so pumped to see this type of conscious television air and Tony is definitely qualified to do it. This has nothing to do with the public not liking Tony or the show or even rejecting it… unfortunately this is a sign that we have way more work to do on this planet until people are finally empowered and interested in working on their own backyards. For now I guess its still less painful for them to watch and judge other people’s backyards. It absolutely amazes me that this show didn’t even get to the point of being rejected… Read more »
Incredible mistake by NBC!!! This show so touched me in its first two episodes. I turned on to watch it tonight and thought I had made a mistake in the timeslot when I saw “Minute to Win It.” What a disappointment this show has been pulled.
